So if this is true then why don't offensive players get called for targeting when they lower their helmets
? Is it any less dangerous for them?
I would venture a guess that the original targeting rule was adopted to protect defenseless offensive players from the brutal hits we all remember. The rule has since evolved to the absurd infraction we saw last night. It has not yet evolved to the others side of the ball. I expect it will come though.

That's a dang good question as to why another qb is not playing, ain't it?
Did you see against WKU our backup under pressure just throw up a prayer that was intercepted and was bailed out by a roughing the passer call that happened after the throw? Lonergan is the best Quarterback on that roster. Period. Folks keep talking about REC scrimmages: look at the stats from the last two A Day games.

All the while he was drafted in the first round and started at cornerback for the Lions tonight. 😂😂😂😂 And you sit here whining about him. People on this site are sick of this.
You’ve misread what he was saying. The crazy caps/lowers implies that it wasn’t Arnold. 🙂

Guess what?..... The coaches aren't going to call mid-range throws and slants until JM gets comfortable with hitting those slants and mid-range passes in practice. Until then you probably won't see that called in the game. Also, Ty Simpson ain't replacing Jalen unless he gets hurt, we start losing because of him or CKD feels like he needs a change.
Guess what a 4th year starting QB at a Major school should be able to hit those passes.

Plus we are having routes in the mid range and underneath check downs that he’s not seeing and or refusing to attempt.

Ty is a better QB than #4

It’s asinine that we won’t give him a chance.

I know I’m not crazy because other posters that I highly respect who I know understand football are seeing the exact same things as me.

When you have WMack and BamaBuzzard openly talking about it then the problem is there.

Other people can ignore it but our problems aren’t going away until we make a QB change.

Even with 12 playoff spots we are not a playoff team with #4.

I see the same issues but it just doesn’t matter what “we” think or well respected posters whom I respect. We will have to have the bottom drop out before JM is benched. I surely don’t want that to happen. I’m going to trust a guy who is supposed to know good QBs such as CKD.

It's insane how the internet has empowered people who have virtually no experience to impugn the incredible expierience of coaches like Saban and DeBoer.

It's literally insane. These people think that watching a game once per week gives them greater insight than the man whose career hinges 100% on football, who (due to their expertise) makes more in ONE YEAR than most here will make in their entire lifetime of work...

But yeah, keep reaching about how two of the greatest coaches in the last few decades have been bamboozled while you figured it out. The hubris is absolutely incredible.

At this point I'm rooting for the bottom to fall out.

We either aren't making the playoffs or are at best barely getting in with the way things are right now. 0% chance to do anything in the playoffs.

I'd rather switch to Ty and at least have a chance this year or at least prepare for legitimate runs in '25 and '26.

I wish I could go back in time and explain to my younger self just how far shaking hands, kissing babies, and networking in general could carry you.

Apparently in all aspects of life be it career or American pastimes like football your actual skills just don't matter if you can make everyone around you just like you.

Thanks for your insight which supercedes both Saban and DeBoer. We're grateful for your wishes to see Bama fail rather than possibly succeed with JM as QB.

Good gosh, the arrogance of some of you.

It'll be too late to save the season by then.
No, it won't be too late. We'll beat Wisconsin. And even if we lose to UGA, that's only 1 loss, to the #1 team in the nation. We're still in a position to make it to the playoffs and be a major factor there.

Keep in mind, a lot of people wrote us off after last year's game with USF. But we made it to the 4-team playoffs and lost to the eventual national champs. There's a lot of football yet to be played. We have no idea how that all might play out.

The arrogance that some of the posters have is astonishing. They literally believe they see more than Saband and DeBoer. SMH

No I want us to succeed long term even if that means having to have a setback to get there.

I'd love to succeed w/ JM but it's just not going to happen. I defended him just last week saying we needed to see more than last week's small sample.

But the book is out on how to beat him. Teams with the personnel to do it will beat us this year.

Coaches aren't perfect and you know that.

This same thing was happening in 2017 with Tua on the bench. We almost lost Smitty, Ruggs, Waddle, and Jeudy over it as well and Najee.

In 2017 we lost to an AU team that had no business beating us and we still would not make the change. Almost had a locker room and OC revolt vs UGA in the NCG at halftime.

The better player really is on the bench at times.

I'd rather (just as an example) lose to both Wisc and UGA now and it be clear that it's because of #4 and then put Ty in and win out than to keep skating by with feast or famine play all year with #4 and end the regular season with 3-4 losses....maybe two of those happen late and knock us out because we kept stringing things along an not making the hard choice.

It's crazy that you post all this without even stopping to think that maybe the two coaches who chose JM to be the starter might have more experience, insight, and motivation to do what YOU think is the right move. I mean, we're literally talkign abouttwo fo the most successful HC's athr CFB level in DECADES...

But thankfully we have your insight. If only they'll listen...

The internet has created a false sense of self-security that doubts expertise at an INSANE level...

Just me I never said that.

I think both see the issues.

CNS had a loyalty to senior players problem.

But both guys probably think they can coach the issues away and fix them.

They definitely see the flaws though.

We should beat Wisconsin but a road game vs a major non conference opponent is rarely as easy as it should be even when you are clearly the better and more talented team.

I think people are thinking with all that has gone right for the program after the transfer window closed that it was an indication that we were back to what we were in 2020-2021. I think people still have this unrealistic expectation for Year 1 for CKD. I think making the playoffs is realistic but not a given since we still have 4 major road challenges and Georgia and Mizzou at home. If we could win 9-10 games and two of them were Tennessee and Auburn then i would be happy.

But seriously, I think before we go towards “we hired the wrong guy”, “Womack is just a better Pete”, or “this is Indiana’s coaching staff” we need to give it time. We hired the best guy we could and he knows what the Alabama standard is. He isn’t Nick Saban, but who is?

Nobody is perfect.

I really don't even understand why you are taking the discussion in this direction because I know I've seen you criticize late career CNS.

It's baffling to me that some people on here say our current QB will NOT beat UGA in two weeks when he is the same QB who last beat Georgia.

I mean, bunch of real Nostradamus types we got here.

As a footnote probably of interest to no one, I finally gave in and decided to put a whole bushel of folks who don't seem to use the same rules of evidence and logic I favor on Ignore. I really hate to be so lame, but I know the comment threads will at least be a whole bunch less repetitive when I sign on now.
