I agree we have been there and done that with Dubose and Shula.Orgeron is a very good position coach, but a disaster as a head coach.

Lets get real YES TROY beat LSU but this is not a Les Miles LSU. Still a great win for Troy but, in all honesty Troy does not have the talent of a LSU. With a half decent coach LSU wins this game 99% of the time. NOT taking away from the win but this is by no means a typical LSU that is secondd to third best in SEC normally. As a matter of semantics if you beat them... then LSU still lost to Troy.
Even Dubose had a 10 win season and an SEC title. I think if Orgeron were at Hoover, he would be 6-4 every year.Ed Orgeron is LSU's Mike Dubose. Both were good position coaches who were in over their heads as head coaches, and Ed O will probably harm LSU as much as Dubose harmed Bama. Everything that Coach Saban built down there is being dismantled, and LSU now looks like they did in the 90's. We won't have to worry about those guys again for a while.
Still didn’t stop them from taking an L in the column. The problem isn’t scheme, it’s the players within. Can’t fumble on the first snap of the game. You’ve gotta block someone. You’ve gotta have decent QB play. Those are essential. Until you get those parts, well, you lose to Troy State. (Yeah, I know it’s just Troy now)http://www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/sports/lsu/article_102c1204-a88f-11e7-92f8-976462ea5688.html
Apparently LSU ran a hybrid
Ensminger/Canada offense against Troy
Going by what several of the local media outlets have said this week, along with an offensive lineman's interview and Coach O's admission of getting a little too involved in the offense. I think there is some divide within the coaching staff and players maybe starting to take sides. Local sports talk radio show this morning played an interview of an offensive lineman who said he liked all the pre-snap motion of Canada's offense because he felt it distracted the defense and made them think a little more. This comes after it was reported that Coach O supposedly told Canada to "simplify" the offense which included cutting back on all the pre-snap movements and shifting.i have to wonder if some of the lsu players pulled a michigan v app state and partied the night before.
it would be irresponsible not to speculate
That UM team was well coached and ended up having a very solid season. I think that they beat Tebow and the Gators in the bowl game that year (could be wrong). The App State game was a total fluke, only made possible by the players' failure to prepare at all for the game.i have to wonder if some of the lsu players pulled a michigan v app state and partied the night before.

these two things seem a bit contradictory. That UM team was well coached and ended up having a very solid season. The App State game was a total fluke, only made possible by the players' failure to prepare at all for the game.
there were plenty of posts here before the season talking about how lsu is one of the few sec teams that had comparable talent to us.A rebuilding job? PUH-LEASE.
There is not another program in the SEC West with as much talent and depth as LSU outside of Tuscaloosa. This is a meltdown. It's not as if LSU should have been considered a shoe-in for the playoff, but a 10 win season was a reasonable expectation.
They're pretty loaded - a good staff would have LSU challenging Bama in the west this season.there were plenty of posts here before the season talking about how lsu is one of the few sec teams that had comparable talent to us.
Saban - Alabama 2010. Sometimes coaches don't reach players. Lloyd Carr was a great head coach.these two things seem a bit contradictory.
no big deal though, i made the comparison to rag on lsu since they suck so bad
The meetings in LSU’s football operations facility Monday were not limited to players only.
LSU athletic director Joe Alleva met with head coach Ed Orgeron and his two coordinators in what Orgeron described as a “very positive” gathering about the program’s “direction,” he said Wednesday on the Southeastern Conference teleconference.
Alleva and Orgeron called the meeting, Orgeron said, and it was triggered, he admitted, by last week’s 24-21 loss to Troy in Tiger Stadium – the first nonconference home loss in 17 years.
The discussions between offensive coordinator Matt Canada, defensive coordinator Dave Aranda, Orgeron and Alleva unfolded in Orgeron’s office, and they centered around “accountability,” a source familiar with the discussions told The Advocate. The four left the meeting in agreement on the direction of the program.
“It was a gut check meeting,” the source said. “It was more that guys need to look each other in the eye and tell each other how it is.”
yeah, we had our issues in 2010, but it was not in the same universe as losing to appy stateSaban - Alabama 2010. Sometimes coaches don't reach players. Lloyd Carr was a great head coach.
