Post game thoughts (including coaching) thread. Let's not have 50 new ones...

Re: Shula redeemed

What makes you think we would've been able to execute a pass into the end zone, given the circumstances?

First of all, from 3 yards out, with 3 tries, we SHOULD'VE been able to do it. There's a deeper issue here, and people are ignoring it. It's not Shula's fault we didn't get into the end zone the first or the second time.

I don't think the playcalling was an issue today. 14 of the Barns points came from our OL mistakes. Without that we are looking at a 15-8 ballgame.
Good thing the ever awful performance from our O-line isn't due to coaching...

Re: Shula redeemed

He'll get one more year. Wasted TO/FG on 4th and 1. Not sure what game you saw but looked like same old Shula to me. 26-23 career record 0-4 against AU by my count is not overly redeeming.

I've been on the fence...no longer! I wan't to see a plane in the air tomorrow to Winston-Salem to start talks with Jim Grobe. That was the worst display of coaching I think I've ever seen.

exactly...we definately have problems on the O-line but that can be helped with another solid recruiting season. The play-calling was on point though

Re: Shula redeemed

Dude, no amount of sunshine is going to cheer any of us up right now. "Shula's" play calling while it was more aggressive, he also put the offense in bad positions alllll day. How many times did the players bail out the horrid plays that were called that put them in a 3rd and long? The players played their hearts out today, but were put in horrible positions by their coaches. The players deserved better today.

Postgame thoughts???
I hope we dont go to a bowl game. Instead Have 2 A-Days so our youngsters can get ready for next year. I belive that players would give an appathetic showing in a bowl. 2004 anyone?

I was amazed at how much heart was given by our team and to get your heart crushed only makes bowl appathy that much worse.

The worst thought I have is NOW we wait...... August is way to far away. Plus we have to deal with MOOO U's @#%$@.
I guess we no longer fear the thumb, we should have no fear from here on out.

Did Shula refer back to his acceptance of the UAHC job halfway through the fourth quarter? Glazed Eyes?

I personally am fed up with being a par team. I would like to go into the off season with a sense that our team is great but right now... WE ARE NOT!

had to watch the game at work........my co-workers got tickled at me because i was calling plays.......it's a shame when a car salesman can sit on his but in a showroom and predict your offense

why should we give him one more year? I've heard he'll get one more year. But, I've always wanted to know why? Anyone got any thoughts? If someone is not doing their job, you don't say...well, we'll give you another year. If someone for a reputable business is not holding up their end of the bargain, you don't say...alright...u have one year now...please improve?

Re: OK - Post game thoughts (including CMS) thread. Let's not have 50 new ones...

Most frustrating season I can remember. We were in every game against every oponent. We didn't get blown out by anyone but we really didn't blow anyone out even the ones we should have. We alsways found a way to loose. Usually it came down to two or three plays a game making the difference. Of course, lots of games are like that.

I think the coach must do what all managers/leaders must do. What did I do well? What did I do not so well? What must I do to produce different results? He must be honest with himself, get some advice from a couple of people he trusts, make some hard decisions and then agressively pursue his plan of action.

I am in the "one more year" camp. While i think we could get a good HC to come in, there are no guarantees that things would significantly change. I think it took a lot of courage for Mike to take the job. THe first two years must have seemed like a blur. Yet with all the problems and comments re: loss of the team, I saw a lot of effort out of the team. Coach Shula still has lots to learn. I think the administration knew there would be an extended learning period and I think they will give him a chance with the understanding that things must change.

I see where your user name comes from.

Being a Bama fan in these big SEC games is like Bill Murray's Groundhog Day.

I never once felt we would pull off the win. I've seen this game before ... over and over and over.

I know Pach, it's just tough trying to will a team to change something, and for a different outcome, when you know what's gonna happen in the end. I know these guys are giving their all. I guess I'm just a little frustrated right now. I knew a fumble was coming right after Keith Brown made that catch over the middle. I've seen him get stripped like that too many times. However, I don't think there's any reason to get down on any players whaen they're giving their all for the Tide!

I believe the most disturbing stat in Shula's tenure at Alabama is in the following statement:

In his 4 years at Alabama, 1 winning season. That 1 winning season got him a contract extension.
