Richard Hendrix

As do I . This year or next won't make any difference . He lacks the hops to play on the next level . A below the rim player , Caffey-esque IMO .
i just heard from someone down there who has talked to him and they said he is headed to the nba. don't know about hiring an agent or not.
Exploring , not heading .

Caffey had a short stint in "The League".....But it has changed a LOT since then.

As much as I'd like to see Big Hen do great in the NBA, it's not going to happen. Not quick enough and too short, and cant shoot from the outside.

I dont know about all this so him not hiring an agent means that he JUST looking in going into the NBA but not a sure thing and he might still stay another year?

If Richard can get a good shot with an NBA team, I'm all for him leaving early, but I dread having to listen to CMG whining about not having him.

Caffey was short, but if memory serves, he had a fair share of highlight reel dunks in the pros. Caffey could get off the floor when he could get on the floor.

It would be nice to know for sure one way or the other in case there is a chance to pick up a decent late recruit.:mad2:

I think Hendrix will be a solid NBA player, but I don't have a clue if he'll even get drafted; it's a big world. I keep thinking he doesn't have the quickness required, but he has good hands and power, can run the floor, and can protect a large area of the court when rebounding. He hasn't mentioned a go-nogo criteria regarding his expected draft postion after hitting the camps. I can see him working himself into at least the upper tier of the 2nd round.

The NBA draft gets wierd at times due to the weight that someone's potential or "up-side" can carry versus looking at the tapes of someone's career in college.

Any one know his true height?

"Upside" is the single most overrated word in basketball. I got two words for everyone here who thinks Hendrix doesnt have the height to make it in the pros. Charles Barkley. Hendrix is strong, he's an exceptional passer for a PF, he can take the face up jumpshot, he is one of the top 5 post players in the country, he can rebound with anybody, he has a 7'2" wingspan... He's going to be fine when the pro's see what he can do when he has guards that can get him the ball and he isnt being triple teamed. That said.... I hope he stays one more year and improves his stock.

FWIW... I think if he had went to north carolina, he would be more highly rated than Tyler Hansborough and very well could be up for national player of the year.

For those of you who think Hendrix is ready for the NBA, I respectfully disagree. Let me change that, I strongly and respectfully disagree. I am on the same page with LCN and DTYDE, he's not ready to take the next step.

To me I see another Erwin Dudley in Hendrix. I think Hendrix has a lot of room for improvement. He has been outstanding for Alabama, but the NBA is a different story.

I wish Richard the very best of luck in whatever he chooses to do, but I hope he decides to return to Alabama to work on his game.

Puhleeze...... that was 20+ years ago. The woods are full of potential NBA players who are a little taller, jump a little higher, and can shoot a little better than RH.

He might make a good player in one of the European leagues, but it would be a huge upset for him to be a 1st-round NBA selection.

Richard can, however, be a great ambassador for UA basketball. He's well-spoken, and will get his degree in May after only three years here. I wish him well.

Sir Charles was/is a freak of nature. Not many 6-4/6-5 guys can out-jump most 6-10 or 6-11 NBA players. Richard can't even out-jump teammates Alonzo Gee (6-6) and Senario Hillman (6-2).

Tyler and Richard went head-to-head several times during AAU/HS All-Star games and again during last summer's Team-USA 18 & under team trials. Richard has come out on the short end of that competition every time.

Don't get me wrong. I love RH and think he's an excellent college player. I just think his weaknesses (height and jumping ability) will be magnified against NBA level competition and his strong points (strength and court awareness) will be equaled.

agreed on all ur points

RH is not even guarantee to be drafted this yr, or next yr. And at best he's likely to be a 2nd rd pick, which means NO GUARANTEE he will even be on the NBA roster next yr. And the best case scenerio would be playing in Europe to the NBDL next yr. And one site have early projections for the 2009 draft, and this draft site has guys like Bill Walker/Alonzo Gee/Mario Chalmers/Bill Walker and Jeremy Pargo GOING IN THE 2ND RD. Which tells me, even if Hendriz stays for another yr, and improves, there is still no guarantee he gets drafted next yr.

So RH has to weigh it carefully, play at Alabama one more yr, or play pro basketball in Everytown, USA, or even Eupore. My guess is....Hendrix comes back for 2008.

Both can dunk but , so can everyone esle . Caffey had more range on his shot and still couldn't stick . :(

Unless whoever it was that filled Rod Grizzard or Shea Cotton full of crap gets anywhere hear Richard , I expect him back for next season ..... I hope . :)
