Robert Quinn Update?

Try this out for size: In order of the next public commitments.

Tolliver WR
Jackson WR
Lawrence DB WHEN OFFERED fully, when Bryant says no
Quinn DE
Harris LB or Mcclain OL
Jones WR

Just from what I was told.

I just don't know that we have the space.

I'm not totally convinced that we even have five spots available -- which would be what we would need if we get Julio and Harris plus these three -- and even if we did I am not convinced that we would use them in that manner.

We already have several defensive end / Jack commitments, do we really need to add three more? I would argue that there would be a higher marginal value if we signed another offensive lineman, tailback, or cornerback. If the aforementioned scenario played out, that would preclude us from signing someone like Antoine McClain, Alonzo Lawrence, Chris Tolliver, and others.

Now, all of that said, I think the odds of us going five-for-five with Julio, Harris, and the three defensive ends are quite small, so it is likely a problem that will never come to fruition. We'll probably strike out with one of those guys. I imagine the more likely scenario is that we get Julio, Harris, two of the three DE / Jack prospects, and then one of McClain / Lawrence / Toliver, etc.

Either way, I trust that the ol' Nicktator will do what is best and have us sitting pretty come National Signing Day.

I will, however, strongly stand by my assertion that this recruiting class, regardless of what happens with Quinn / Green / Harbin, will be simply outstanding. Even if we strike out with everyone left on the board, including Julio, this will still easily be the best class we've had at Alabama in ages.
We need anyone who can provide quality depth on defense. And with our group we have committed I see us in the top 3 in the nation on signing day.

A possibility some might be missing is that some of the more well off recruits might be talked into a grayshirt paying their own way for a semester. We have at least three who might be in this position. JPW did this if I am not mistaken.

Yes, John Parker Wilson did grayshirt. CNS has said he does not like to grayshirt signees though. It seems he is more into early enrolles that can be back counted to the previous years class.

I don't belive Bama will get either Harris or McClain. I feel like their behavior has been a ruse to disguise the fact that they have been in the AU "bag" from the beginning. This not based on inside info or rumor, just a gut feel from observation and a little awareness of that area.

Ain't it great to have this problem?;):biggrin2:

Everyone remember Allen Bailey from last year that was from a small town (Island I think) from GA. This guy reminds me of him, but his 40ty time is faster and he is an inch taller with about 10 pounds lighter than Bailey. We need this guy, I just hope he is fine in the injury area. I really like Chris Lett but it looks bad in his injury department.

We seem to be in pretty good shape with Quinn. Burton Burns has been close to Quinn for 3-4 years according to what his HS coach told someone I trust. Green and Harbin may have both waited too long and will be on the outside looking in.

I hope that this opens the eyes of some guys and they go ahead a pull the trigger for Bama. Other than JJ and JH, I can't see CNS holding out til NSD for some of these others. I also hope that this will help some of the 09 recruits commit early on to avoid the numbers crunch that will surely come again next year.

I don't believe that's true. We could have gotten McClain earlier in the year if the staff had really wanted to take him at that time. I think our chances are good with both of them if we want both of them. Harris we most definitely want, I'm not so sure about McClain at this point. I would expect the staff to put the full court press on Harris between now and signing day, if they haven't begun to already.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to what Bone might have for us on Harris this week.
