Re: Rumph to Texas

Look guys, you can voice your opinion all you want, but do you really think it HELPS the team IN ANY WAY for you to post negative opinions about people who might be hired / are hired as coaches? We KNOW recruits, players, and even a few coaches read this forum, so let's keep in mind that support for our team is far better than splintering into groups of 'I like this guy but not that guy'...

Just a thought...

I support any coach or player that CNS wants. Until he proves otherwise, he deserves my respect in that regard. Think about it.

Re: Rumph to Texas

I'll let them coach a season or two before I form an opinion on them. Heck, I had a very high opinion of Nussmeier but it started tailing off once we hit the meat-and-potatoes of the SEC schedule in 2012 and the end of the this season put me firmly on the negative opinion.

And if all you can say about Coach O is that he's an NCAA risk then trust in the way we run this program to keep him in line and above the fray.

Re: Rumph to Texas

Does it say what position? If it is lateral that would say a little about the move.
What it doesn't say is DC. Unless he's going to be the defensive co-ordinator (and we have no reason to believe that's the case), it's a trade of one position coach job for another.

Any constituency can spin this any way they want. This is lateral to down.

On the team????
4 Juniors leaving for the NFL.

15 Seniors graduating.

Speculation that a few folks, specifically at deep positions like RB and QB, could be transferring.

You could be looking at a quarter of the 85 man roster departing. That's some pretty serious turnover.

SIDE NOTE: What position did Rumph take? Is this another lateral move?

Fanning has already tranferred, and there is a lot of people that think Kamara may not make it back. Then there is the issue of Dickson. I haven't seen much about him since he was suspended.

Re: Rumph to Texas

Ogeron is an excellent DL coach. I just don't see him coming here for position coach's pay. He's been a HC, coordinator, and most recently an interim HC, it would surprise me if he took that big of a demotion.

Re: Rumph to Texas

According to a few other sites, Rumph had interviewed for USC job with Sark, before getting job at Texas. If that is true, this wasn't an all of a sudden thing, and might have some bearing Kevin Steele's decision not to leave to Louisville. Andrew Gribbles pointed out that Thompson had coached DL previously and that Steele coaches LB's. AFAIK, that is just speculation on his part, but who knows.

Because sanctions suck!
Seriously! It seems a two game losing streak has caused people to lose their minds. Winning without values or class doesn't mean squat to me. We've already hired a classless clown on one side of the ball, so now we want to bring in another? I don't get it.
