Re: Landon Collins Story, After the Decision

Well. I am not sayin what my wife said when watching the announcement as to what Justin did. I think his mom loves him in her own way. One thng is clear.....Landon is his own man and comfortable in his own skin which is remarkable for a kid his age.

Re: Landon Collins Story, After the Decision

Thanks for the read; I definitely doubt CNS promised that stuff when actual recruits over the last 5 years constantly say that one thing that they like about CNS and Bama is that we DONT promise the world. We just offer the opportunity. Selective hearing or a misunderstanding is all that that statement reflects. Looking forward to having LC on campus and hopefully he'll be able to assuage mom's concerns after he's started classes and college life.

Re: Landon Collins Story, After the Decision

This article definitely sheds light on the situation. Landon is a very mature young man. He will do well at the Capstone (on and off the field).

Re: Landon Collins Story, After the Decision

I think a lot of recruits can learn from the precedent Landon Collins set. Ultimately it's a recruits choice where they want to go to school. It's the recruits life and no one, not Momma, Daddy or anyone else for that matter, will wake up and live that life or be as effected by the decisions made in it everyday like the recruit will.

I'm a parent myself. I too want what's best for my children. However, there's a moment in time, I know it's coming, where my children will outgrow my advice. Part of being their parent is letting them make choices and deal with effects those choices have on their life. It's called growing up, letting them do it and supporting them regardless if it's what I want or not.

I feel for the kid, getting pressure from not only your friends and neighbors but your mom too. Hand in there landon. A better life awaits.

Well, I am 35 and I am a MAN. (really 35 and I guess I would be classified as a man!) but I still ask my parents for advice. Whether I listen or dismiss it is my choice and they know that and respect it. Now at 18 or so it was a little different, they along with many other parents think their advice was a little more important at that age and basically you better listen to it since you live under this roof...Granted he doesn't live under her's...

But, lets face it, as far as education goes is he really gonna go wrong at either institution? Both are outstanding schools, one is just a little better :) He is obviously a smart young man as he choose the correct one!

letting them make decisions is good...but i think you will ALWAYS give them your advice.
its the dynamics of parents and children, wrapped in college football recruiting. never an easy thing.

The parents advice has helped us with a recruit lately i think...(C Kouandjou)

I agree.

Oh by the way age has nothing to do with being a man. You're only a man when you can grow a mustache.

Re: Landon Collins Story, After the Decision

I'm sure the BCSNCG didn't help the matter much either. LOL! I hate the situation has played out the way it has and I highly doubt CNS presented himself toward the parent in the manner portrayed in the article. I might be wrong but I'd wager I'm right.

I also think Landon has a very bright future ahead of him at the U of A and if he stays the course with "the process" could very well enjoy a very successful career in the NFL. But either way he'll have an opportunity to get a good education.

Re: Landon Collins Story, After the Decision

Well, Landon did visit LSU yesterday on an unofficial, but left 100% UA. LSU feels they have no shot and the visit was more of a courtesy to the coaches (and mom, I'm sure)

Hm... saw that on BOL, but Jamie Newberg just tweeted that he talked to Landon and Landon said he never visited LSU and wasn't sure where the rumors came from. Said he is 100% signing with Alabama next week.

Re: Landon Collins Story, After the Decision

Mrs. Justin is not the first mother to have a visceral reaction to a coach. Doesn't necessarily place her or the coach in the wrong. We've all had moms. They play plenty of intuitive hunches where their kids are concerned.

All that said. remarkably good read on the complexities of the situation.

Re: Landon Collins Story, After the Decision

Interesting

Very interesting indeed. I take a person at their word until they show me something different; I think LC has said he is 100% Bama (if I remember the article correctly), so that's what I'll go on until further notice.

Re: Landon Collins Story, After the Decision

That was a special night beating Urban Meyer and Florida in BDS last year. Who knew that it also got us the top safety in America with Landon Collins. There's nothing like 101,000 cheering for Bama on a Saturday night.

Re: Landon Collins Story, After the Decision

Yeah, I don't believe Saban would use/say that for recruiting. He don't have to promise anything, just take a look at the program for yourself. She probably been thinking about NFL contracts the first day he balled out during the Pee-Wee league.

It's just not very consistent with what other parents of recruits have said about his method. The consistent theme coming from parents who've spoken have said he talks about them getting an education, becoming better people, having the opportunity to play for NC's etc. This is the first I'VE HEARD a parent who's spoken out say anything like this. So I have to go with he may not have said it.
