Re: ***S Landon Collins commits to Bama II***

IMO, with his girlfriend going to Bama I just don't see a flip. Just more to shore up his decision. Kids at his age like to do just the oppisite of what parents want. We were all there at one point .

Re: ***S Landon Collins commits to Bama II***

Anyone who seriously considers AU is a fool who has no business making important decisions for himself. He desperately needs parental guidance.

I dont agree with a parent just saying yes or no but they must have some input.

Re: ***S Landon Collins commits to Bama II***

We werent saying this last year around this time

The difference is that it was a shock to Cyrus' parents when he said the barn; LC's mom knew where LC wanted to go and made her opinion known. I don't think Cyrus' parents had talked stuff through with CK before his announcement, like LC did with his mom and his dad. Apples and oranges as far as the situation goes.

Per Denzel Devall on Twitter, he spoke with Collins and he is a solid commitment to 'Bama.

Anything can happen, sure, but I'm not worried.

ESPN The Magazine - feature story on Landon Collins

Feature story in the upcoming Feb. 6, 2012 "Recruiting Issue" of ESPN The Magazine

Closing paragraphs:
The photographer makes Collins hug his mother, and there it is, the second remarkable thing about this day: Justin has chosen to wear purple pants and a gold T-shirt. LSU colors. She explains that they're the colors of Gerald's school too, which is true. But alongside Landon's Alabama hat, Alabama sweatshirt and Alabama necklace, it's true in a willfully provocative, mom's-not-letting-this-go kind of way.

Yes, she has her reasons for doing what she did. But she doesn't need to explain anymore. The poses tell you everything you need to know: A mother in purple and gold, hanging on; her child, in full Alabama gear, breaking free of her grip, smiling as he goes.

Re: ESPN The Magazine - feature story on Landon Collins

Admin Note: I've had to merge five separate Landon Collins threads in the past 18 hours alone. We already have a Landon Collins thread, and not every individual thought about him deserves its own unique thread. Any discussion regarding Collins goes in the Landon Collins thread. Period. We've been extraordinarily patient and forgiving about this, but this has gotten out of hand to a ridiculous degree, such that I literally cannot even log-in to this board now without having to merge Landon Collins threads.

Bottom line: Anyone who cannot abide by this most basic and easily understood rule gets their entire thread deleted outright next time.

So I shouldn't start a new thread about Landon's choice of soft drink, should I?

Ok. But the reason I posted this as a new thread is because I didn't think it would be buried in this original thread. It's a big story--one labeled by Yahoo Sports' football blogger (Dr. Saturday) as the "The best recruiting story you'll read this year" and TheBigLead.com as a "Fantastic recruiting story on Landon Collins’ decision to attend Alabama over LSU"--so I still think it should get its own thread (so that Tidefans.com readers don't miss it).

It isn't buried in this thread, but I did see it on Twitter before you posted it. Plenty of people still check this thread DAILY and HOURLY (haha) for updates. It's all good.

Yep; nothing is getting lost in this thread on LC. I'm hoping for a stress-free NSD.

I understand where you are coming from, and admittedly it is a very well-written piece, but even so the rules are the rules and they are that way to keep a virtual flood of topics from consuming the board about the same prospect. We've gone the route of individual player threads while editing the title to reflect the most recent discussion, and on the whole I think that has served us well in streamlining discussion. Even for worthy articles like this, with multiple threads you still end up with the same basic problem: the exact same topic being discussed in multiple venues.

And, as a practical matter, given how obsessive the recruitment of Collins has become, nothing is going to fall through the cracks. If it comes out that last night for dinner Collins told the Burger King employee that he wanted pickles on the side for his whopper, this board would instantly take notice.
