*** S Landon Collins Commits to Alabama ***

I'm not sure if this is a timing thing, but no doubt, it HAD to have an impact on his final decision (even though he said he made his decision 2 years ago).

You look at LSU's entire team and only the QB is guaranteed to not be back next year. But looking at their defensive backfield, every one of them is an underclassman. The only seniors are Ron Brooks and Brandon Taylor. Mo Claiborne could (and should) leave early after this season. But according to them, the best athlete on their team is a 6-3 195 lb freshman CB who's redshirting this year. So he can step right in. Look everywhere else. Mathie, Simon, Loston, Reid are all sophomores.

From our side, Mark Barron is gone. Will Lowery is gone. Barring a sudden change of heart, Robert Lester is gone. Phelon Jones is gone. Dre Kirkpatrick is gone (forget about him coming back. I personally think he needs to stay one more year, but the man has mouths to feed and he's had a 1st round grade since last year. He's gone). DeQuan Menzie is gone.

Now. HaHa Clinton-Dix is talented as all get out, but has limited experience. Same with Nick Perry and Jarrick Williams. Same with John Fulton.

So that leaves Dee Milliner and Vinnie Sunseri as the only returning defensive backs with extensive playing time (and with Will Lowery out, expect to see a lot of Vinnie in the BCSCG).

Now..Landon can step right in and compete for immediate playing time. Particularly at the Star position. I'm looking forward to big things and hope to see him here soon.

Re: ***S Landon Collins commits to Bama II***

I hope it works out for this young man to come to Alabama. He is a fantastic player, and I hope we get to see him in crimson.

Welcome aboard Mr. Collins. With that, as I watched the game and his decision being made concerning his choice of schools, it struck me as he was making a point with something he said. When the stooge that was interviewing he and his family pointed out the fact that he, Collins, was from Louisiana, Landon kind of corrected him with “he was from New Orleans”. Just out of curiosity I was wondering if there is a little bit of a divide within the state that might make it easier for pulling kids out of the Big Easy and on to somewhere else other than Baton Rouge. Not easy by any means, but a little more doable. But anyhow, he and Cyrus capped a good evening off in fine fashion.

Not sure, but here's a list of folks that got out of Louisiana:

Peyton & Eli Manning (with their dad's ties, I can understand both. Eli more, but not Peyton)
Kordell Stewart (from New Orleans)
Marshall Faulk (from New Orleans)
Reggie Wayne (from New Orleans)
Warrick Dunn (actually from BR)
Chris Henry (from Belle Chasse)

This is the most impressive pickup of the Saban era IMO. To go into Louisiana and get a player of his caliber is very rare and almost impossible. He is a great athlete and a fantastic safety. Maybe end up being one of the best to ever play at UA. RTR Landon!!!

:BigA:I think that I can offer some interesting insight into this situation. As I type this with my Alabama shirt on, in my Alabama TV room, with my houndstooth hat on my head I understand what the Mother is going through. My oldest daughter, who I love more than life itself is going to be a freshman next year at the University of Tennessee. Due to them paying for her education I will forever refrain from calling them UcheaT. I have pushed and prodded, begged, bribed, and even tried to use financial leverage to get her to go to the Capstone. No luck. Either I am a failure as a father, or our kids are young adults who are going to make their own decisions. I will never do cartwheels that she is going to Knoxville, especially in public. I will always love support her, but I do wish she was going to be in Tuscaloosa.

If his Mom is anything like me, she knows where she wants him to go but kids will do what they want to do. Much like LC, my daughter EARNED the right to attend whatever school she wanted. I offered my input, but unfortunately the decision is hers. In a weak moment I even allowed a T Christmas ornament on my tree. I know, weak.

All those predicting Armaggedon are probably way off base.

LC actually kind of reminded me of Mark Ingram during his interview. He seems like a very good, genuine and likeable guy and exactly what Saban looks for in a recruit.

I talked to a former U of A linebacker and friend of the basketball coach at LC's high school today and was told some interesting information. The woman sitting next to LC during the announcement was not his mother, it is his sister. LC also dates the daughter of his h.s. girls basketball team, and she already attends Alabama. She is also the sister of Lacy's current girlfriend...

I don't know this for certain but my source was as confident as possible about this information, tifwiw...

The only thing I can say for sure is that his GF just graduated in Dec from HS. So she may be enrolling this spring but has not started classes yet at UA. Atleast according to his GF who posted all this on her twitter that she has now shut down with LC because of the LSU fans acting like idiots on there.

The pictures I saw of LC's reported girlfriend (Caucasian girl) was not who he said was his actual gf (african american girl)...

A lot of false info out according to him...

That caucasian is who LC said it was. Her pics were all over his twitter. And there was a pic of LC with her caucasian father together in Orlando from yesterday hanging out. He attended the game with her. They both were on twitter until they started getting threats and other crap from LSU fans last night. Both have now turned off their twitter but I can promise you unless Collins lied the caucasian girl is his gf and she was standing directly behind him. Those two have had a very open love affair on their twitter.

This is from 247 recruiting site and was own his Twitter for a while of LC and her together. It was when she got her scholarship for UA this fall if I remember correctly. She also posted her scholarship paperwork and the pic got all the LSU fans upset because she is wearing all the UA gear. Her mom is the girls HS BBall coach at Dutchtown.

SIAP, but LC told TI that he is a Bama boy from now on. He has been all Bama for two years. And to ease any worries Bama fans have, he said he can promise that when he signs his LOI, it will be with Bama.

He will wear #26 at Bama in honor of the late Sean Taylor who is from his hometown of NOLA.
