With the departure of HC McElwain, doesn’t this position Florida as the most desirable vacant or soon to become vacant HC jobs in the SEC? Thinking this will impact the gutless Vols in getting a good SEC coach.

With the other coaches that are guaranteed to be gone, I think 1 or 2 that are on the fence will get more time. I just don't see enough good coaches available that can fill all of the spots that could be open. There should be a minimum of 5 open SEC positions in a month or so. #6 may get another year...So, does this help take the heat off of some other embattled SEC coaches or does this start a cascade of changes?
This is not a smart move to me. 2 SEC division titles. No guarantee you will find a better coach. Florida may regret this.

If aTm comes open it is equally desirable to UF. I’d argue with facilities and booster $$$$, it is a better job. That said, I think they are looking for a different type of coach.

And by number 6 I mean the ole Gus Bus.
The Vol boards are already discussing this, that their AD has waited too long to release Butch so they'll now be competing against Florida for a coach. But then again, I'm not so sure that it's a direct correlation. That is, a coach that would go to Florida wouldn't necessarily go to Tennessee, and vice-versa.
Personally, I think they should hold on to Butch for at least a couple more years until the smoke clears.
