see you next week

...and on the flip side we have a D to go with our O

I'm just not sold on your d. Georgia's d couldn't slow down a true freshman rb in his first SEC start. USCe's D held 'em to 6 points, and if they had a d Arkie would be at best winning in OT after having been up pretty well. That's where your running game would have come in with someone like McFadden in years past, Ingram/Richardson/Lacy/Goode/Fowler in years present.

I realize you can't, or shouldn't, compare "what we did to them versus what ya'll did to them" because it's two different games. But, our balanced O, rb's who are stellar, and recievers who are atleast as good as Arkie's and a much better d should spell victory for the Crimson shade of red.

And welcome to the board! It's a great place to talk football, and alot of other things, too!

lets talk stats...

Mallett put up 380 yds, 3 TDs (Heisman numbers) in a hostile environment...

He did not do that last year...different team this year.

Have some friends coming up there to watch the game, show em a good time.

RTR
I'm sure your friends will find plenty of Razorback fans that will....

Not sure the reputation that Fayetteville has elsewhere but it is a nice place that sets apart from the rest of the state.

Hog fans always seem to get nasty and think their team is better than it is. Having said that, I will say this looks like the best team you've guys had in my lifetime. Your QB is a Peyton Manning type talent.

Unfortunately for you guys, this is probably the best Bama team in my lifetime (I'm 30 btw). Saban has loaded the team with top-tier talent at every position and he's arguably the best college coach alive right now.

I expect y'all to play us tough as you always do, but it won't be enough. Take solace in the fact that we're the best team you'll play all year.

Arkansas' big play ability scares the hell out of me especially the way our D played in the first half against Duke. Other than that I think Bama will be ok. Its shaping up to be a Gameday event type of showdown for the west. Just the first of a very hostile road Bama has to navigate this season. Can't wait till kickoff and let the best team win!!!!

In all honesty........I think that we'll be up by 21 before halftime......

I think Coach Saban got into Mallett's head last year early........and it's very likely to happen again.

I don't think it will even be close. I think this is a 2-3 TD affair........and over by the end of the 3rd quarter.

Alabama Offense is at least 3-4 TDs better than your Defense
Your Offense is at least 1-2 TDs better than our Defense

Bama 38
Arkansas 17

I have a feeling it is going to be a shootout. Our defense has been shaky at best. Our secondary will get toasted a few times but our offense is just about unstoppable.

How much better is Alabama vs Georgia? If you can answer that, you should be able to answer the question of how we'll do against Arkansas.

Thanks for posting Arkie. At least you have a shred of validity in some of your claims about the upcoming game; unlike some of the moronic Auburn visitors to this site.

Bama will have a lot more defensive stops in this game than the Hawgs.

...and on the flip side we have a D to go with our O
I'm not trying to bust your bubble, but y'all let Georgia, a team with no offense to speak of without AJ Green, come back and tie the game. I wouldn't be bragging on your defense just yet. Might want to wait until after next week.
Our offense and Georgia's aren't even in the same dimension...jus sayin'...

Duke didn't have a lot of "big" plays, from what I heard; no 30 or 40 yd (or longer) TD passes, no 60 yd runs...they ground it out (see # if first downs for duke in 1st half; you typically don't get that many with "big" plays).
That is absolutely not the hawgs game, and if they want to go that route we will obliterate them.
Our D hasn't been victimized by many "big" plays this year; we keep that MO, it's game, set, match and pork bbq.

One thing the hawg fans probably need to consider is that the game is not going to be won by Mallet and their receivers. The game is going to be won by their offensive line being able to handle our defensive front seven and their defensive front seven being able to hold up against our OL.

Granted the razorbacks passing attack put up some good numbers. But they were playing Georgia, Georgia. Not the 2005 Georgia bulldogs but the 2010 Georgia bulldogs who is program that has been on the decline for several years now. And that's the truth. The 2010 bulldogs have struggled to score points this season. They have a decent defense at best. So I wouldn't put too much stock in how great Ryan Mallet and your offense has developed into just yet.

The game is won and lost in the trenches.

thank you...

Its a long time coming for us you know...we were stuck with that fool of a coach for 10 years and too many fans who were satisfied with mediocrity. There was a time when the Razorbacks were a top-tier team and we'd love to get back there.

Welcome. It appears that fool of a coach has seen his best days.

I'm still wondering if our defense has been intentionally vanilla in order to force the young DBs to mature. Probably wrong, and that bums me out.

I've been waiting for someone to post this idea. NO....we haven't been holding back. We are just not as good as last year but we may still be good enough.

Definitely out biggest test to date. Anytime an opponent's greatest strength plays against your biggest weakness is a cause for concern. I have faith in our coaching staff to get the team ready, though.

I will say that going into the next few games, I'm concerned with Alabama's pass rush, in three games its fairly obvious its not to the level it was last year whether its youth or in-experience. Our run d is still quite good though. Another problem area on defense is tackling. Many times our dbs & lbs are in position to make the play and simply are not wrapping up. That can be fixed & expect that Bama will improve there as the season goes on.

I do expect Dareus to be a factor in this game and that will help, but its clear we miss a Mt Cody type player on the D that clogs up the middle, allows others to make plays. Having said that, I noticed a lot of different packages & young players getting in the mix in all 3 games so far, and I'm confident our defense will continue to improve as some of these guys get more snaps and experience.

The Arky game is a bit more of a concern to me more so than USC mainly because of Mallet. He's far more accurate than Garcia and I just think we match up a little better with USC than Arky. Hopefully, our offense can stay on the field with long drives and let Mallet & Childs warm the bench.
Offensively, we should be fine. We have play-makers at every position, have exceptional rbs and a fantastic O-line, and a very heady qb who is playing as good as any in the country including Mallett. Also, like BB said, games like these are won at the lines and I do like our chances there even on d.

IMO, this will be one of the best SEC games all season & should be an exciting one.

I'm not going to predict a blow-out by Bama on this one, its a tough road game & I think Arky has a very solid team. They'll will be the toughest of any we've played so far and I expect Petrino to throw a lot at our secondary to confuse them. Arky is capable of putting up points, but I agree with others that even with the issues stated above, our defense is still quite a bit better than any Arky has faced so far, and our offense is in a different hemisphere from UGA. I think it may be close for a while but I still think Bama wins by 9 or so.
Looking forward to a great game.:BigA:

Bama game against Arkansas should be the 1st true test for our pass defense while facing a real passing offense. Hopefully Bama can get through this tough stretch of games that lies ahead, and nothing worth having is easy. Bama going to have to earn that SEC & BCS Championship game spot.

:BigA: ROLL TIDE :BigA:
