Link: SNL video makes fun of Alabama football academics

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

You could substitute any other power 5 school

Well, I'll have to disagree there. You really couldn't. Maybe tOSU, maybe Michigan. But otherwise it's not as funny or current unless it's Alabama. Which is why it didn't offend me. Nobody satirizes you unless you're on the very top or the very bottom.

Satire is one thing but IMHO.....this is how the Hollywood elite view middle America. Screw them and their pitiful attempt at humor....

Ah, I don't know. This was pretty specific. And BTW, there were two other "Bama students" in the skit who created a particle accelerator and a cloud chamber. It's not like they were taking a broad swipe... they were taking a swipe at football.

If it had been basketball season, they could've done UNC and it would've made sense.

As for SNL being irrelevant... It's tough to make a case for that when the president-elect finds it appropriate and necessary to tweet about it. Liking it or not liking aren't matters of relevance.

Yeah they picked you because you're prominent right now, what with being the number 1 team, but it would have been the same had they picked pretty much any other program. And y'all probably would have loved it had they picked us.

This is how people view Auburn too. And Texas, Ohio State, UNC, USC, LSU, Michigan, Kentucky, Oklahoma. Basically anyone good at sports that's not Stanford, Vandy or a handful of others.

I used to think the same until I found out just how awesome he is behind the scenes. If you ever go look at the Make-A-Wish numbers, nobody else comes near him. At all. He was a 460 last year. Nobody else had cracked 300. That's absurd.

I thought the skit was funny. You could substitute any other power 5 school (with the exception of the Vanderbilts and Stanfords of the world) and the joke wouldn't change a bit.

Indeed. My thoughts as well. I feel like they've done this before with other schools. No biggie

I just think it is typical SNL. If it had been Auburn or tOSU it would have been funny to a lot more on this board.

Its just a joke and the intention of this is type of joke is to offend people...or at least ruffle their feathers a little.

"What's the outside of a banana called"?....... "The crust"....That's funny.... I don't care who you are....it's just humor. Was it absolutely hilarious, no. But I did get a chuckle out of it. I think UA's latest batch of student-athlete graduates speaks for themselves. RTR

A comedy show that's been on over 40 years pokes fun at the premier college football program in the country, and some Bama fans are offended? As others have pointed out, they picked Bama to parody because we are on top.

IDK. The President Elect tweets about a lot of stuff in the early hours of the morning...

Yeah, I thought it was pretty funny. Only reason it was Bama is because we are on top. Tough to say it was elitist Hollywood ragging on the south/Alabama when the other students and the professors were portrayed as being very intelligent. Its Peanut Butter Jelly Time!!!!

Yeah I'll clarify because I'm more talking about John Cena as the character and not the person. He is very genuine when he talks about the troops and kids, but I don't really like THE CHARACTER John Cena because it's all in your face and his acting is either forced or falls flat. But I like the person
