Dang at the numerous injuries keeping big time players out of Spring practice....
I think sometimes it's just to prevent ware and tear on some of the veteran players. The young players need spring way more.

Why is Tony Brown still facing some suspensions? I thought the National championship would be enough.
Exactly..The extra work & reps would only make those injured players better, but, they have already proven their worth on the field sorta speak & are proven commodities, they just need to get better over the spring, let the young guys fight it out in the spring & get ready healthy for fall Practice most importantly..I think sometimes it's just to prevent ware and tear on some of the veteran players. We have to have good pass blockers too. This has got to make the new quarterback feel confident with all these receivers. If Foster comes back 100%, Ridley, Stewart, Howard and the guy below, plus a couple of others, I can't remember having this many blue chip receivers. It would seem that the quarterback who can most effectively get these guys the ball will win the job. All we need is a guy that can get them the ball, pretty simple!

Bo looked noticeable slimmer to me. Maybe 15 lbs or so. Also looks like Burton Burns is going to be the special teams coach. That's an interesting move..
I know this has been explained before and I just don't remember, but what's the thinking behind starting spring practice the Friday before spring break the way we've done it in recent years? There are basically 10 days in between the first and second practice.
I'm not questioning it, it seems to work for us, but just can't remember the reasoning.
Saban mentioned in his press conference that it helps to keep the players focused and doing the right things while they were on spring break. I took what he was saying to mean it helps the players keep focused on eating right, staying in shape and staying out of trouble while on spring break..

WE have lot of speed at all of the positions on both side of the ball. I'm very impressed. Foster ran 4.64 , not bad at all.

Sophomore nose tackle Daron Payne posted some of the most impress overall numbers on the team. The 6-foot-2, 319-pound Payne ran a 4.93 40 while his 365-pound power clean, 500-pound bench press and 600-pound squat were all tied for the best on the team. Payne's 40 time would have been tied for the best at this year's NFL scouting combine among defensive linemen weighing 295 pounds or more.
