Stewart Mandel of SI on AU's recruiting so far

Recap of Auburn Signing Day:

Single into shallow right.

Double down the line.

Chizik is basically hitting at the Mendoza line with a national championship trophy in his back pocket. This guy is such a repeat of Terry Bowden it's not funny.

ESPN had FSU #1 last year, #6 in 2010 and #2 this year. So far it hasn't translated onto the field. Maybe it will in 2012 but so far it hasn't IMO.

It wont. I'd put money on it. At best 10-2 regular season without even seeing the schedule (best case scenario)

Probably Ricardo Louis and the OT Young. Those to signees, both 4 although some services give Young his 5th star, probably vault them towards the top 10. Def not the class BAMA has but, their class got a lot better the past hour.
According to Rivals they are sitting at the number 11 spot.....

I keep seeing my Auburn friends on Facebook talk about how they have moved into the Top 10. Rivals, Scout, and ESPN have them outside the Top 10. Does the Eufaula Tribune have a ranking service or something?

I don't see the big deal with Ricardo Louis committing to the barn, he was already commited in the beginning. he just flipped back. whatever...

Avery Young is a project. good pick up, but needs massive weight for SEC play. Does anybody fine it odd that a "4 Star" OL went to auburn over Bama, UGA , UF, FSU, OU, Michigan???

:BigA:To understand how complete a thrashing we have put on the rest of the country, ask yourself if there are any TWO recruiting classes from anywhere in the country that you would take in place of what we signed today. I don't know if you put together an all star team of any 3 classes would be worthy of trading for what we got today. Somebody needs to pinch me.

Scout seems to be off compared to the others. With FSU coming in at #9 while being #2 the other major sites. They have Texas with five 5 stars compared to the other sites showing them with one or two.

Bama didn't have any room.....turning good recruits away and grey shirting others......the Bama hat is put on the table because they had an offer at one time and to make it look good.

I know what you mean about Louis. Some barners I spoke with were fired up about Jaqauy Williams from GA who was committed to *U but GA was pushing hard for him and he signed with Aub. Your not adding, you are holding on.

About Young, I heard his committment and when they asked why you chose the Barn he said "it's mostly country and a little city and I'm a country boy".

5 star recruits getting 3 star coaching....

That's just wrong! It takes time for it to translate to the field. Not everybody came make an impact coming out of HS.
I've seen the development that our staff has done with our 2010 kids(Jimbo 1st recruiting class). It takes time to build the quality of depth. Bowden left the program in bad shape, so it will take time.

FSU was a pre-season top 3 pick and lost 4 games in a weak ACC so I think 3-star coaching is correct as of now. If he loses 2-4 games this year in the ACC he will be in the "invited walk-on" category .

The 'Bama hat is on the table because a 'Bama offer establishes your bona fides as a big-time football player. People who put that there are simply trying to use our brand to create that impression for themselves.

We don't even recruit most of the kids that end up with our hat on the table...

Saw Brown play at Florence when my daughter went there. Wish it could have worked out with him at Bama but glad for the kid that he's going to MSU and not you-know-where....

CJF had a MAJOR role in recruiting, coaching and developing players years Before CBB left and thus the "shape"it was left in.

That exuse may have small wings but it won't fly.
