Strange Stoops Stories

He's at it again, Bama fans. The plane-trackin, conspiracy-findin, dot-connectin blogger:

Stab Here.

FYI
Last night in OKC they have the Barry Switzer show. He stated that he was on the plane that flew Stoops to NYC. They were talking about the QB the Sooners are targeting for next year. He did his show from NYC. Doesn't fit in well with the dot-connectin blogger's theory.

He also said he was a little surprised that Bama had not named a coach yet. Then he said something like this "Bama is still a great job but someone has to be ready to step into that pressure cooker" not a quote but best I can sum it up.

Just because the rumor mill has us sniffing around the State of Oklahoma doesn't necessarily mean that Stoops is the target. There is another very good coach just down the road from Norman, who has been quietly turning chicken scat into chicken salad.

With an offense we should be very familiar with.

Good post, Terry. I would love to see a BIG name coach come in. But if we can get a mid-major coach with a proven track record, we can win just as big.

Ohio State hired a bespectacled Division I-AA coach. Florida hired a mid-major producer. Look what those two are playing for next month.
I'd like to add that Bama once hired an "unproven" by the name of Gene Stallings, & I think that turned out OK. As far as Stubbs is concerned........most dynamic offense at Bama in many a year. Even had the game announcers praising the O during his tenure.

Hope you all get someone good and the Tide get Rollin' again.

Bob has turned down opportunities with the a couple NFL teams (including his native Cleveland Browns) Notre Dame, Florida, etc.

I'd be absolutely shocked if he left now after everything he's accomplished in Norman. 80 wins (if we beat Boise St.) in the 7 years of the '00 deacde has been a fun ride.

Loved my trip to T-town in '03 and hope to go back one day...but when we do go back...I hope Bob's still on our sideline.

Best of luck.

It will never happen, but Stubbs would be a great choice. He's a quality guy with a great football mind.
