Terrelle Pryor Question

I recently showed one of my buddies some of Terrelle Pryor's highlights and he was certainly amazed at his amazing atheletic ability, but he wasn't very impressed by him as a QB. I was wondering if anyone else on the board felt the same way. My friend said that with his size, speed and running ability he would be best suited as a wide-out. I couldn't believe it, he seems like a phenom to me. I'm not even close to being an expert at analyzing a prospect's talent or what position the might project - but to me he seems like he would absolutely thrive in an offense such as WVUs or perhaps Florida's. So, anyone with any sort of skills evaluating prospects, your opinions, please.

I found it odd that he did not make the Elite 11 QB camp. Tells me he may have the athleticism and even the arm, but possibly he is not a polished quarterback, thus we see him running like a deer a good bit. But boy I'd sure take him in a heart beat, regardless.

JMO, but I would say Pryor is still very raw as a QB but by all accounts he has plenty of arm strength and he shows decent touch. I would have to disagree with your friend, I believe with proper coaching he could be a fantastic QB along the same lines as a Vince Young, that's how dynamic he is. He's a game breaker and as long as he developed as a passer I think it would be a crime to move from QB.

That's how I feel. He is as explosive (at the high school level) as I have ever seen a QB.

Did Bama withdraw the offer to Terrelle Pryor? I see that he is no longer shown as having an offer in Crimson Surfer's 2008 prospect thread at the top of this forum.

As far as I know he is very much on our recruiting board. I personally think we are towards the bottom of his list, and that is ok because I think Star Jackson would be a better fit. But don't get me wrong, I'd love to have him. He is truly an amazing athlete.

I was thinking the same thing about Pryor not making the Elite 11 camp. Is it possible that he was invited and maybe wasn't able to attend or did he just simply not get an invite? I just don't understand how the number one dual threat QB does not get an invite to the Elite 11 QB camp.

He actually didn't try out for the Elite 11 camp, so it was his choice. Can't remember the reasoning, maybe something to do with AAU ball...

At any rate, he's got a strong arm and I've heard he has a natural touch (shows on his deep balls, which is pretty much all we see of his passing game on the highlight reels). Clearly not a technician (a-la his comparative model, Vince Young), but certainly has the tools to be very effective as a paser.

We tend to remove prospects who are no longer considering us, regardless of offer/no offer.

Correct....he had a team tournament that was in conflict.

He would've been one of the 12 participants.

Just an FYI, some schools are actually recruiting him as a WR.

A while back when Pryor trimmed his big list to his top 10 Bama made the cut and there was some thought we might be in the hunt. There was even some talk that he would visit Alabama. That hasn't be the case and from all that I can tell he is not seriously interested in Bama and he will not be visiting. He is no longer listed as a Bama prospect. He still has an offer and CNS and staff may turn him around to where he is showing interest again but that doesn't look likely. He is a heavy lean to Ohio State and PSU is in there slugging it out also.

He may feel it best for the furtherment of his career that he go to a school in the Big Slow conference. Not too many defensive players there will be fast enough to catch him!;)

A lot of that could just be the stigma of being a great-sized, extremely athletic, but not particularly polished prospect.

I remember Mack Brown not stating Vince Young would surely be a QB until fairly late in the process, and there was even talk of him playing multiple positions at the Army AA game.
