The Decline of the DNC IV

Rogan's podcast is still generally acknowledged as the best out there for a reason. He will let anyone come in and lay out their point without interruption (just don't let him catch you in a lie.) Some of his guests are way, way "out there" and there has been some truly bizarre theories toss out on his show. Still, it's a fun listen.

I will give credit where credit is due. He seems to have both sides of an argument on his show. He will have moon landing deniers, flatearthers, space deniers on and then have Brian Cox or Neil Degrasse Tyson to show the 2 sides. He has democrats and Republicans that are willing to actually do it. So kudos to him. He used to be a moon conspiracy nut, but has been swayed a little. Not completely though.

I believe he was the first to actually do a podcast? Now there are tons of them.

I have no idea if he was the first, but his numbers are legit. One of my favorites was when he had Jake "The Snake" Roberts on and Roberts was telling him all kind of stories from back in the day. Roberts was my favorite wrassler when I was a kid, so I had to listen. He had some great tales, especially when he talked about Andre the Giant. I left most of that behind shortly after my age hit double-digits, but it was still a fascinating listen.

I was a Dittohead (Rush Limbaugh) back in the 90s but not entirely; it's not like I agreed with every word that came out of his mouth because I didn't. (We often had some good discussions at work when Peak Limbaugh hit around 1993-94, polite talks where we would discuss what we agreed with or disagreed with - we noticed a lot of our positions were determined by our AGE AND EXPERIENCE in life, too).

But somewhere - and I don't know where - Rush went completely insane. I got to that point where I no longer had time to listen to him (and spent several years away from any channels that carried his show). Many of the things he was saying in his last ten years NEVER would have come out of his mouth in the 90s. (The word he called Sandra Fluke that got him so much heat - I couldn't believe the gregarious old tub of lard had said that having listened to him earlier).

My suspicion from a distance is that he saw the MAGA movement taking over the GOP and made a calculated decision to stay out in front of it and become a full-blown Trumper (there's no money in not having a show). The same thing has happened with a certain guy who now co-hosts his show; I enjoyed you-know-who MUCH MORE during the 2016 campaign when he was more liberal than I do now that he has become a right-wing pretend extremist. Clay for those who don't know.

You probably believed it when he sicked the cobra on Randy Savage didn't you?

:)

Actually that was one of the wildest things I'd ever seen in pro wrassling.

They talked about that and it was hilarious. Roberts can do a fantastic "Savage" voice and he used it when describing the conversation they had backstage before that match. (Savage insisted that Roberts let the snake bite him first before agreeing to get bitten in the ring.) Regardless of what your feelings might be toward Rogan, this is an episode worth hearing. It made me laugh and almost made me cry.

Tuesday’s special election in Virginia expected to narrow an already tight House GOP majority | CNN Politics

By nightfall we'll have a new Democrat in place in the House.

And despite it being a +34 Harris district last fall, don't be surprised when the blowing trumpets of this predetermined outcome make it sound like "this is the end of Trump!"

(Also don't be surprised when the non-incumbent wins by, say, 14 points and the MAGA try to tell us it's proof that district has moved in Trump's favor; I love political spin).

This won't be news at all. Unless the Republican wins.

It's not news until a district flips. We have a small subset at the moment, but if the local statehouse special elections are any indication, Republicans should be worried about the mid-terms.

INGERSOLL: ‘Toxic Empathy’ Is The Biggest Threat To America Right Now. We Need Men To Stop It

Of all the things that should be prompted by the wanton slaughter of Iryna Zarutska on a Charlotte train, a statement from the mayor would be just the beginning.

In case you didn’t read my column yesterday, Zarutska was a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee who was killed by Decarlos Brown Jr. in plain view of the public on a commuter train. Brown had been arrested 14 times prior to killing Zarutska. His last release was on cashless bail.

The magistrate judge who released Brown on a “written promise to appear,” Teresa Stokes, is also the director of operations for “Second Chance Services,” a mental health and addiction clinic in Charlotte.

A judge deciding cases for chronically violent diagnosed schizos doubling as a director at a “Second Chance” mental health clinic? Super weird, huh?

I'm not going to link it because of language, but I highly recommend Joe Rogan # 2352 with Texas State Representative James Talarico (D). He's a former middle school teacher and is currently in seminary. I'm about 2 hours in. I've counted about 4 non-Tidefans words so far, so it's not the typical level of JRE language.
Talarico announced yesterday that he's running for US Senate.

He feels like a Democrat version of Thomas Massie.

Republicans are obviously worried about them (and should be based simply on history).

They're back to redistricting gerrymandering whatever to make sure they win - and personally, I hope this blows up on them badly and costs them for a generation or more. And one of them supposedly Trump was deeply involved with - and this guy doesn't know jack squat about anything but his party minions think he's some sort of genius.

One of the unexpected consequences of redistricting is that, many times, you try to get as many favorable seats that you dilute a district enough to make it competitive. Thereby losing the district you intended to win.

Yep, one of the things that can never be predicted is what will happen in a 5-10 year span.

It wasn't all that long ago that Virginia AT THE PRESIDENTIAL LEVEL was part of the Republican base (as recently as 2004). But the expansion of DC out into the suburbs, etc, and in just eight years it was ripe for Hillary to choose their Senator as her running mater.

I’m not at all religious, but I think Talarico is a star. What stands out about him isn’t faith—it’s his authenticity, clarity, and willingness to challenge stale politics. He represents the kind of fresh air and forward-looking energy Democrats desperately need if they want to inspire people beyond their base.

Here's how you know Tlaib and her fellow democrats are 100% disingenuous.

They claim white supremacy is a dire threat to our safety, but would never work to protect Black Americans' Second Amendment rights.

This means two things:

They don't really believe white supremacy is a danger to Black people and are lying about it to win support.

OR

They DO believe white supremacy is a threat, but they don't really care.

I think most fall into the first category.

What about y'all?

That was a funny show.
yes it was. i remember a long time ago i was visiting my brother when he was stationed in salt lake city and we were having beers after he picked me up from the airport. ufc or whatever it was called then was on at the bar and i saw rogan hosting and said, hey, that’s the dude from news radio
