The Decline of the DNC IV

This woman is such an idiot. Having said that, it sure seems like both sides have difficulty understanding this.

We have a hack who writes history who will never learn anything, we have a news media that will never learn anything, we have a group of Republicans who continue to learn there are no consequences (yet) for their hypocrisy and oh yeah, here we go with the most reliable group of all at saying and doing incredibly stupid things, all in the name of equality, the Democrats:

Harris says Buttigieg was her 'first choice' for 2024 running mate

Former Vice President Kamala Harris says she would have picked Pete Buttigieg as her running mate last year but America wasn’t ready for the pairing, according to an excerpt of her new book.

Kamala picking a guy who would not have had a chance in hell of carrying his home state doesn't exactly make her look like the next genius.

Harris writes in an excerpt of “107 Days” published Wednesday in The Atlantic that former President Joe Biden’s transportation secretary was her “first choice,” adding that he “would have been an ideal partner — if I were a straight white man.”

Shouldn't the criterion START with "this person is the most qualified person to replace me if tragedy occurs?" I mean, look what happened to Joe Biden when he did that.

“But we were already asking a lot of America: to accept a woman, a Black woman, a Black woman married to a Jewish man. Part of me wanted to say, Screw it, let’s just do it. But knowing what was at stake, it was too big of a risk,” she writes.

I can YET AGAIN explain to you that you are telling us all "we are checking boxes that the average person doesn't even consider", which is the biggest problem this party continues to have.

Her thoughts on selecting a running mate come as potential 2028 contenders begin traveling the U.S. in the early days of the second Trump administration.

Hint: in general, the most predictable and reliable block of voters in the Democratic Party don't care all that much for gay folks (and that's not just me, folks, that's some guy named Obama), just like the Hamas Faction was never going to swallow Shapiro as the running mate.

The level of bigotry and hatred in America is extremely depressing. From Democrats and Republicans.

It's not good, but I honestly question whether or not it is nearly as pronounced as suspected when it comes to VOTING FOR PRESIDENT. Local races, that's an easy win for any bigot of any stripe. But once you get beyond that, I would think it's exceedingly more difficult.

And here's the part I honestly don't know: given that virtually nobody (certainly not in huge numbers, never large enough to change the race) votes for the #2 on the ticket, would this have hurt them as badly as suspected? This is one I can see either way, although I'd side with Harris in the idea that basically says, "Look, we're already taking a HUGE risk putting me at the head of the ticket in the way we did, this might drive folks over the edge."

I also question what should be a very basic point when it comes to #2: can this person deliver you any states? I know it doesn't always work that way, but once upon a time we set upon the point, "If a candidate cannot even win his/her own home state in the fall, that person has no business on the ticket." We've modified that in recent years with the nomination of people like Mitt Romney (some will say Gore, but he did deliver Tennessee twice as VP, so there was no reason to dismiss him), but what votes was Mayor Pete gonna add to the ticket? He recently bowed out of running for Senator in Michigan because:
a) if you lose a race, it's hung around your neck as a reason you cannot win
b) polling showed he was going to lose

And Pete isn't from Michigan, so why would he pull the carpetbagger's trick of RFK Sr, Hillary, or Tuberville?

I'll give Harris a pass on "why Shapiro" because my suspicion has been polling told her, "It puts PA in the bag - and puts MI in the bag for Trump." Plus, she would have spent the rest of the race getting asked about the tensions between the Israelis and Palestinians, and she needed both.

From my experience, blacks are more homophobic than whites.

I "sort of" agree with what you're saying here, but I think that's because you and I are very close to the same age from the same area of the country and have similar experiences. I think "homophobic" is such a meaningless term anymore, given it has gone from meaning (45 years ago) actually fearing gay people to now meaning "if you don't endorse the idea of same-sex marriage, you are by definition homophobic," which in my opinion is a bit too far.

But I've seen what you're talking about.

One of the valuable lessons the seminary taught me - and many don't do this - was interaction with other ideas, cultures, races with which you're not familiar. We had assignments where we had to do things like attend a non-white church if you're white and another was attending the service of another RELIGION (I attended a Hindu service and wrote a report on it fwiw).

And I know what you're talking about, it's the same thing Obama was talking about - a severe tension at a minimum bordering (in some cases) on vitriol.

The part I question, though, is how much difference that would make as a VICE-PRESIDENTIAL candidate. I can 100% understand it in a primary election or even locally.

I have much more respect for Buttigieg than I do for walz. Walz is a complete idiot.

What perturbed me with Walz is this: I follow Minnesota politics somewhat closely because of the time I enjoy spending up in Duluth. When his party got control of both chambers (they've since been reduced or lost) a few years back, they went on a "typical liberal spending spree," one thing being re-opening the train line from Duluth to MSP, which was shut down in 1985 because nobody rode it......and the fact it takes just as long to get there (with stops) as a CAR does and then once you get to MSP, you have to either walk or Uber, so why not bring your own car? It was a smorgasbord of stupid.

Then she chose Walz and - why do so many do this - they wanted to present him as this sorta regular guy who had been in the military fella, and it LOOKED SO FAKE because it was (like the time he played video game football with AOC and despite allegedly being a coach didn't seem to know what a Pick Six was).

Mayor Pete was probably not weirder than Walz, although I do have THIS question:

What Democrat with a chance of winning the Presidential election needs a running mate from MINNESOTA?????

If she had chosen Shapiro I think she wins. I'm not sure how large the militant islam contingent is currently in the US.

I don't know.

But this is why I suspect she still loses:

So if Trump carried the area WITHOUT Shapiro on the ticket.....how much worse is it if he is?

FTR, I was saying the same thing before the election, that Shapiro would have put it away. I SUSPECT that if she had chosen him, she might still have lost but they'd still have the PA Senate seat and she would have carried the state.

BREAKING: For the second day in a row, Rashida Tlaib has a MENTAL BREAKDOWN in Congress and gets into a screaming match with Byron Donalds.

This needs to go viral, it shows just how INSANE Democrats are.

And before the whatabout artists jump up out of their office chairs, the Reps certainly have some nuts on their side as well. That being said, these "Squad" members don't even seem like real people. I can't help but wonder if they are part of some weird social experiment. Maybe George Soros wants to see how far he can push the line before the country catches on fire.

I suspect Trump's success in the Arab-American community might have been due to the perceived Biden-Harris support for Israel's incursion in Gaza. Although, if true, I also suspect that those people are not happy with Trump's green light to Bibi.

Thinking a candidate for president will go against AIPAC is a fool's errand.

I've been saying this FOREVER. I wish we could permanently get rid of both AIPAC and the ADL. It would go a hell of a long way to cleaning up so much of the bribery in Congress.

It is not anti-Semitism to assert that Israel is NOT our friend. Israel only cares about its existence. I have heard former CIA operatives say that Mossad is the scariest bunch to be around. Not that the CIA has been choirboys over the years, but Mossad is on another level of ruthlessness. Anybody can be expendable. Even their own.

And I think it's a very safe assumption that the politicians Israel can't buy will be done away with. Epstein's possible honeypot operation is just one example. I have always supported Israel's right to defend itself. They conquered that worthless patch of land fair and square, but that doesn't make me a supporter nor does it obligate me to rubber-stamp everything they do in the pursuit of that end.

I suspect Trump's success in the Arab-American community might have been due to the perceived Biden-Harris support for Israel's incursion in Gaza.

For all of the criticism I had towards Biden/Harris (look, I'm conservative he's not, what do you expect?), I thought his handling both of Ukraine and Hamas were actually quite good at least overall. But let's face it, he has some raging anti-Semitism in his party, too. No, opposing a particular foreign policy goal of Israel's DOES NOT make someone anti-Semitic; but if you CANNOT say the words "release the hostages" along with "ceasefire now" from the latest eruption that Hamas began, it's a pretty safe bet you're an anti-Semite. But we have a group of - to be blunt - Jew haters in Congress that WILL NEVER say those words because deep down they'd love Israel to vanish off the map.

I thought, all things considered, Biden did a great job threading the needle on that particular issue. But Golda Meir's observation was not wrong that too many hate Israel more than they love their own children. Go watch some of the videos of Christopher Hitchens, someone who clearly cannot be called a right-wing Christian nationalist, boring into some pretentious hijab wearers who come out and ask loaded questions. He'd point out the pretentiousness of the entire thing.

Although, if true, I also suspect that those people are not happy with Trump's green light to Bibi.

Yeah, but what are they gonna do?

Trump is probably not gonna be on the ballot again.

To their defense they are surrounded by millions of people that wish they were dead. Not some "political" death like we wish on people of the other party, but out and out death, like exist no more. I don't really care a whole lot about the middle east, the people there seem crazy. Also, the land under which they reside has changed hands for milleniums. Who can say who the "rightful" owner is. Palestine was there before the Jews carved out Israel and there was someone there when the Palestinians took over. They just need to realize that Israel is not going anywhere and if you attack them then there is a high likelihood you'll be cavorting with your 72 virgins in short order.
