Well, I care about deficits and always have, but it's also indisputable that all of a sudden the GOP adopts this entire "children and grandchildren paying the debt back" position. One of these days, what Tidewater posted about two weeks ago WILL happen. I would not want to be the political party running things when it happens, which is how the Democrats spent most of 7 decades in the wilderness after the Civil War and the GOP did for about 6 decades after the market crash of 1929.

But yeah, at this point, I can't exactly get behind a "well, we can't afford that." I mean, I recall my ex-FIL bringing up cost when Bush wanted us to go into Iraq in the first place (in 2003). Somewhere in life, he went full Trumper, still don't know what happened there.

The man offered a cartoon of hairy-chested masculinity for inadequate men to groove on. They identify with him, right down to the genital-grabbing. A lot of them were Wallace supporters. A lot more of the younger would have been...

I saw an article yesterday discussing the trend towards electric vehicles, and it was posited that one of the resistors is that oil/gasoline is more "masculine".

In my Dad's case, he was always a conservative but one with a brain (pre-strokes). Indeed, I watched his views evolve through the years as he learned more about more things, and it was usually quite interesting right up until Trump.

In my ex-FIL's case, he's a full-blooded Cajun from south Lou-zana, raised hardcore Catholic, which he rejected when he got older (but kept the guilt and the baggage), and a hardcore labor union blue collar Democrat, who occasionally voted for some Republican candidates, all of whom he hated.

Until Trump. Then he suddenly became the most hardcore Trumper you ever saw. With him in 2016, it started with a kind of reluctant "he's not Hillary" and evolved to Trump being "the only one telling the truth," which was shocking given I've known the guy 31 years.

Short post - I'd like to argue with your point, but I really can't. :)

America needs to treat this problem as seriously as Germany did after WWII. It is the greatest threat to our nation's future since the Civil War.

Change laws to make it impossible to gain employment in government jobs, or for companies which accept government funding, if the person participates in this type of activity. Extend that so they are also not eligible for government assistance of any kind. Make a racist post on Twitter - out of work and out of luck. Join a racist group - out of work and out of luck.
