Article is spinning it like it will be a battle in-state for Wooley. IMO, if we want him we will get him. Young man has a very impressive stat line and was coached by Pettway last year. I'm sure AP and Oates have a great relationship, which doesn't hurt either.

Pettway coaching him makes him a perfect fit for us. Seems like a match made in heaven.

That fella moves awful well too be a 7 ft'er. 😳
Just watch about 30 seconds of that video and it'll tell you all you need to know. A seven footer who can shoot the 3 and put it on the floor and get to the rim.

This is honestly the missing piece of positionless basketball. We haven't had this type of player yet. When we get him, watch out!

Not to mention his defensive presence....just by simply being that tall!

He could possibly be an upgrade to Cliff if the outside shooting is legit!

Taylor Bol Bowen from Florida State is reportedly visiting Tuesday. 6'10 forward who shot 41.4% from 3. Sign me up.

Bowen is a player. He's incredibly good around the rim and is very good on defense. And he'd probably love to play in an offense where he can shoot the 3 more too!

I watched a few minutes of the this video and he looks like a much more polished version of what we had hoped Jarin Stephenson would become.

If we could add Williamson and Bowen to go along with Sherrill our depth concerning our bigs should be good

I just don’t know if Stevenson ever turns the corner mentally. If he could, he would be Nelson’s replacement.
Just don’t think he has it in him or at least not at bama. Somethings missing.

I’m starting to wonder about the S&C program. Our guys are not really getting stronger year to year as in Grab, Stevenson and so on.

Agreed on Stevenson. Guy falls down or gets pushed down constantly and gets tied up a lot. Had 2 or 3 games where he had multiple 3's but nothing other than that. Think he needs to move on and maybe go to UNC.

Mo D was a lot stronger this season on the boards and inside I thought. If you could combine Mo D’s energy and toughness and Stevenson’s size and skill set you would have an all SEC player.

It might be the philosophy Oats has for players, but for sure the results aren’t to be questioned.

The crazy thing is, we are having the type of success we have seen, and we still have not had prototypical guys for this style of play. Big men who can shoot halfway decent from outside, can penetrate off the dribble, and are strong rebounders and defenders. Guards who are 6'4-6'6 who can light it up from the outside but are big enough to penetrate and shoot over the bigs. This is not to take away from any of our current players or past one's, but many of Oats acquisition's in the past have simply him going after the best players he can possibly get because we haven't been able to be as picky as we would have liked to be. When we can hand select a roster and have the fluidity and explosiveness that this offense provides and are big enough to defend, we have a chance to be untouchable. Sears is a great example. He will go down as an all-timer, but his limitations (size) were visible throughout his career. The problem is, many of the guys I mentioned (6'6 guards who can shoot and drive) won't be in college basketball for very long so keeping a roster intact will be a struggle. Should be interesting to see how Oats builds this team moving forward. I expect some major moves on our end.

We are basically in a "one a done" roster era.

But you are right concerning building that roster. The longer we keep producing winning results the easier it'll get for us to "pick and choose" the guys that best fit the roster.

You are also right that CNO has basically piece-milled his rosters with what he could get.

In terms of prototypical guys, I'd argue we've had just a handful of players that perfectly fit his system:

Brandon Miller and Noah Clowney, who played on the same team. We won the reg. and conference championship with them. Verified results!

And Philon may be the only other "perfect" fit.

We haven't had the perfect 5 for his system yet!

Not sure we've had the perfect 2 either. As you say, it would basically be a 6'5" Sears. Youngblood would be close with his 6'4" size but his offensive production hasn't been as much as some thought.
