Tropical Depression 14 forms as TD 13 projected to target Louisiana as hurricane

As Tropical Depression 13 continues its sprint toward Florida, a second tropical depression formed Thursday morning in the Caribbean with a path projected toward the Texas coastline, the National Hurricane Center said in its 2 p.m. update.

Both depressions are expected to gain strength and become tropical storms, with the Florida-bound TD 13 projected to grow into a hurricane. Whichever forms first will be named Laura, the second will receive the name Marco.

Just edited the thread title to reflect Louisiana as expected destination rather than Florida.

If Laura can get past Cuba intact, the weather patterns and weak wind shear have her intensifying. Both the HMON and HWRF models have her landing in S. LA as a Cat 4.
