i havent seen any improving or changes in schemes on the OL in the last 3 or 4 games...our offensive linemen look lost on alot of plays..yes they are some fast Def Ends, but still their is technique involved in pass protection and run blocking and our guys just look lost....Tired of hearing that they will be ok they are just young!!!...i see sophmores and freshmen on lots of other teams on the OL!!!!!

Well, I can clearly see we have a few idiots on this forum! I guess they would have done better with 4 freshman starting the year out of 5 spots and with Taylor Britt, we have a senior who has started 2 games (LSU and Auburn) in his entire college career, so he was a freshman too.
Bob Connelly has done an amazing job this year with ZERO experience and frankly limited talent! You guys wouldn't know good coaching if it bit you in the Arse!
One more thing...I guess many of you are forgetting that Bob Connelly came from Washington State with Mike Price and "His offensive line helped Washington State average 436.8 yards per game in 2002, the 11th-best mark in NCAA stats." By the way you genius's...that was an offense that passed 65% of the time! I think the man knows how to coach when you've got the players to do it!

UMMM..what games have you been watching Wisten?....i never said the whole staff, and if you dont think a change needs to be made on the OL side of the ball the your lieing to yourself....Im the biggest Bama fan you will find but im not to good to admit a change needs to be made
All of them. The O-Line tanked around the MSU game, look decent against TN as we moved the ball between the 20's.
I am not saying that they performed stellarly but the only absolutely horrid performance was the Auburn game.

Im not a stat guru but didnt we get sacked like 7 times against LSU?...im not bashing the team for 1 loss , all im saying is there hasnt been any improving at all on the OL....if you watch the tape on the auburn game and watch the OL they look lost the entire game!Our tackles have been getting eat alive on the outside but we never adjust to it at all!
My frustration is I see a stubborness to make adjustments. Unless I missed it, we didn't use a FB or TE to help (at least chipping the DE before going out in a pattern) the tackles until 11:00 or so left in the 4th quarter. It would be better to play 2 TE and only have 1,2 or 3 WR than have your QB get smashed over and over. Important stat: Completions while laying flat on your back: 0. We allowed the defense to dictate. There is no way the AU DL is as good as UT or LSU, but you couldn't prove that by saturday.

Before you go firing anyone you need to do evaluation of the job that was done. First of all you have to ask was there sufficient production from our O-line? At times yes. Was the fall from production affected by depth or talent? The answer is definitely yes. Coach Connelly has done a good job with a young and at times below average, talent wise, line. Just so happened that when our line was at its thinest and least experienced is when we faced the deepest, most talented D-lines in the conference if not the country. I agree we need to be more agreessive up front. Sometimes you have to just come off and whip the guy in front of you, but when the guy in front you is that much more talented and experienced, things like Saturday happen. Last year, our O-line at the end of the year was a bright spot. Same coach, different personnel.

I have no problem with his blocking scheme in the offense Wash. St was running. That is what it was designed for. But it is a very hard technique to learn and get used to. Power rushers who like to bull rush can in a lot of cases give this blocking scheme fits. I've never seen it run with the I formation or pro set on the college level. If it can be done the I'm all for it.

The coaches had decided NOT to take redshirts off of anybody and therefore, we were stuck with what we had and they did the best they could! Also, Taylor Britt made some calls that were wrong, which caused us to have three guys blocking one linemen, which obviously let somebody completely free, which is why it seemed that they weren't touched....they weren't!

I do know that Justin Smiley and Wesley Britt eventually started as RS Freshmen and they didn't seem to have the problems our young guys have now.

I don't think references to Connally's success at Wazoo are necesarily apllicable to the SEC. In the PAC-10, strong, aggressive defenses are rarely, if ever, seen.
With that said, Bama is as young as it gets along the offensive line. However, I think when someone can come unblocked against a 4 man rush...over and over and over again...there is more to the problem than merely youth. RTR.

Please explain to us the regression in the offensive line in 03 and 04 that contained 3 guys now in the NFL.
Sure he did a great job at Washington State, but he's in an entirely different offensive style now, and its obviously not working.
