My grandson, growing up around Orlando, considers San Diego too cold. I fear the ice which is what they forecast our even ending with. We'll probably be without power for a long time...

We have gas logs and a woodstove in one end of the house. Nothing in the other. Just have to run the water there. I have a generator 100' away in my shop, which I can backfeed into the house. It is only 85KW, which will run lights, fridges, occasional space heater but not much more. Also, it's been a long time since it's been used, so there's catchup work to be done to get it into shape to perform. Ordinarily, I do that over the summer, but I simply wasn't in physical shape to get it accomplished...

Man, y’all be careful - in my nearly 30 years in Memphis I don’t recall a storm this wet and cold.

We may be dodging a bullet here in the Atlanta Metro area. Just last night they were predicted a 1.5 inch deluge of ice, which would be catastrophic, but now they are saying just rain with a slight chance of ice. Keeping my fingers crossed.
