Weather thread, Part III

Here yesterday.

I was out trying to finish up the day's work when the storm came through.

In fact I was at Home Depot checking out and the power went out so we couldn't finish the transaction.

IMHO, the way they portray this story sounds like catchers who move their glove closer to the plate after catching a foul ball.

Lifeguards are supposed to understand the dangers from lightning. The fact that they were late in getting the warnings out may have been a factor here.

Do they have sensors on the beach. Most golf courses do...

Anyone who watches WGN out of Chicago can see the hospital where I was today at 4p and 6p.

AC is down in the hospital, and I can't say any more at this time.

High here was 95 or so...humidity @ 70%. I played 18 holes and rode a cart rather than walk. One of our group walked...he just about collapsed on 15-16 and at that point just walked in...I am hydrating with LMNT which includes magnesium and at staying fresh...be careful with your hydration. His legs were cramping up...

92 here in the valley, but with high humidity. About 85 here on the mountain. I think they're forecasting 97 later in the week...

103 a little south of Salisbury MD today.

I dated a girl from Salisbury once.

Btw - my brother reports that for the first time in record history NYC, Boston and Providence ALL topped 100 on the same day IN JUNE. It's happened but never in June.

I have a good friend in Salisbury!

Only 86 here - humidity a little high at 79% - but we have a light breeze so not too bad, all things considered!

I dropped my truck off earlier at my mechanics for a job I didn't want to do and rode my e-bike home. 4 miles in 11.5 minutes.....I think I had a tailwind! :)

I just got assigned to move to the other hospital tomorrow, assess the employees, and recommend who stays and who goes.

Gonna be so fun without AC.....:)

My friend is still affected by the heat exhaustion on Monday...cannot even ride and play today.

100 is the hottest I've ever played and it was on a July 4. I was playing with our present mayor, who was doing real estate development at the time, and there was almost nobody on what was usually a crowded course. I commented that I thought he ought to get back in politics, given what we had then in office. He said he was through with it forever. The cart girl came by and I bought water. I asked if she were selling a lot of beer and she answered that people had better sense - everyone was buying water..

We actually hit 90 on the mountain today. A lot of summers, we never reach it. We've never hit it in June in the 40 years I've lived up here...
We just returned from grocery shopping in Madison and the humidity exiting the car was oppressive. The combination of temperature above 90 degrees today and humidity makes it a challenging to say the least.

I have been going to the panhandle beaches for 50+ years and I have never seen a lightning detector anywhere except for the local golf courses. I surmise the only reason golf courses have them is for liability concerns. If they have a lightning detector and it goes off, warning you to get to safety, and you ignore that warning then you are at your own peril.

County governments are not that worried about liability issues. Plus, most have signs warning you about the dangers and if you decide to partake of the fun stuff about the beach then you are on your own.
