Week 2: Texas vs Alabama Discussion

I'm still trying to figure out why Texas is somehow supposed to be great all of a sudden. They were average last year. They should be good this year, but I doubt they are suddenly great. Anyway, I hope we run them out of the stadium 🏟 and make them dread coming to the SEC next year.

Somebody has finally said what I've been thinking for months.

My totally uninformed guess would be that Kool-Aid and Key are fine. Moore might not be 100%, and could miss the game.
Kool-Aid was not mentioned in the report. Saban only said Moore and Key were day to day. He expects a speedy recovery for both, as the injuries were not severe. Do you have info on KoolAid?

No information whatsoever on Kool-Aid beyond simple observation.

On two consecutive punt returns he took big hits.

On the first, he got a knee to the upper back / neck / head area after he was on the ground. Not a cheap shot by MTSU in any way…just football. On the next, he was clearly the victim of targeting, but the three blind mice in the SEC office didn’t see it that way.

Regardless, I didn’t see Kool-Aid in the game after the second hit.

My concern was a possible mild concussion.

Yeah, But he's okay now. I don't think he'll practice until Wednesday.

Froghorns are going to be a good match up and fun game to watch. T-Town is going to be the center of the college football world with Gameday and SEC Nation there so anticipation is going to be at fever pitch by the time this kicks Saturday evening. Think it will be a tight game through 3 quarters but we'll pull away in the 4th. Really looking forward to seeing our guys compete in game 2.
Gotta get pressure on the Texas QBs. Heavy pressure. Hoping to see lots of pressure

Game Day is a distraction to me. Are there any stats anywhere for how they affect the host team?

Teams layer recruiting classes and get better. We went from bad, to great, to elite in 3 years. Why can’t Texas go from good to great?

Texas wasn’t good last year they were average
8-5 isn’t “good” for a team that is supposed to be elite/favorites to win a conference.
your point is still valid.

Talent is rarely ever the problem with Texas. It's always coaching, and what makes the coaching a problem has almost always been booster meddling.

I'm not saying they always have the talent to go 15-0, just that 10 win regular seasons ought to be the norm.

I would agree, but they also have a head coach who is in his 10th year as a HC, and has never won 10 games in a season, and it's not like he's been at programs that weren't capable of winning 10 games. Washington, USC, Texas are all places that a good, not even very good, HC can win 10 games.

I like Sark, I think he's a great OC and very much appreciated his time with us, but I'm not sold on him as a HC. Texas may have a great season this year, but until they prove it, then I just don't see them as a real contender. Even if they beat us Saturday, I just don't see them as a real national title contender until they prove it on the field consistently.

Agreed. And all that said, I think he did not have the disposition to handle Texas's booster club either.

In my lifetime, Mack Brown was the only one who could. He was the perfect mix of politician, CEO, and coach, to handle that mess. It only produced one championship, to be certain, but it produced a ton of wins otherwise.

Other than this weekend, I wish Sark well. I hate he left and I especially hate he left for Texas. He's going to have a lot of money either way, but still. Some things are more important than money. Well a lot of things are.

Jury still out. Washington was a complete mess before sark was there. Went 0-12 before before Sarks first season. By Sarks last year, they had won 9 games. We all know what his problems were at USC. Hopefully he has got that licked. *getting on my soap box* I am not crazy about opposing fans (of texas) calling him a drunk on social media. There is enough to hate about Texas without disgustingly dragging up a man's demons that he has seemed to of beaten. *getting off my soap box*.
