I just don’t understand the sudden hatred of Dabo. He’s the only coach on the list that has won a NC. He knows what he would be getting into—and that is big. There have been coaches come to Bama in the past that just didn’t get the culture. Say what you want about Franchione, but he was a decent coach at Alabama. But I remember one reporter stating that he just didn’t get the 365 day a year football culture.

I am really not bothered by time because it has only been a day. It’s just the stupidity of the possible candidates… really ? Rees or Locksley ? I would have squashed that rumor by now. DeBoer, Kiffin or Karen are better more qualified candidates than the two mentioned above . The only line of thinking I can possibly imagine with Rees is the “seamless transition” a la Lincoln Riley at OU and Ryan Day at Ohio State. Neither had HC experience nor a particularly lengthy resume, but were successful coordinators under the ultra-successful previous HC.

I’m not advocating for Rees, but if he’s seriously being considered that’s the only way it happens.

Why in God’s name would you ever consider Rees over Kiffin? He would literally walk from Oxford to Tuscaloosa for the job. Please don’t give me his past, burned bridges, etc, whatever.

Rees has not really been a "successful coordinator". He has just been a coordinator.

I know you are advocating for Dabo, but he basically has sat on his hands with the transfer portal and has stubbornly refused to use it..........that aint going to work either, but lets give him a shot and watch recruits go elsewhere

I'm not actually, I'd have him at like fourth on my list. I just have DeBoer lower than that.

I'm just saying bringing in a guy who has never, not once in his career successfully recruited a 5 star is a really dangerous thing when you are talking about trying to keep a team loaded with 5 stars and an incoming class that is similarly loaded as well. It's not even about his lack of ties to the southeast, he's shown absolutely no ability to recruit top recruits at all anywhere.

Having said that, Dabo had managed tons of 5 stars. If we are going to worry about Dabo's use of the portal, then 36th ranked recruiting class this year after so much success this season should be giant flashing warning signs.

Let's just look at the current class. Dabo has 11 four stars and 2 5 stars. DeBoer has 7 four stars. I know the excuse though, but it's Washington, but to reiterate Washington had recruited far better in the recent past. Of course DeBoer wants out of Washington, they are losing their best player, his recruits are mediocre, and they are entering the Big 10. Leave before it all catches up to him...
