Link: WSJ Article with Mrs. Terry: Bama fans are unappreciative, but we're not leaving

That's a surprising read...I'm guessing she made passing reference to this feeling during the course of an interview, the writer realized that would best stir the pot, and highlighted that remark over anything else said, even returning to it to mention it twice in the same article.

That's my impression of how the Wall Street Journal generally covers things.

But even so, for her to feel this way is hard to understand...if she wanted a collection of freshly amputated fingers I bet they would pour in. It looks like any empty seats in the stands at all might be a sign of under appreciation. When a game doesn't sell out, should an alum group buy what's left and give the tickets to deserving people on the promise they watch the full game?

It would be nice if there was a way for the fans to satisfactorily express proper appreciation, and be part of the reason they would want to stay. The writer slanted that story to suggest they were going to stay in spite of being unappreciated.

This ought to be simple to resolve with everybody happy. (With fingers crossed, hoping for the best.)

Only she knows why she feels this way, but I can't imagine it's really true. I think the vast majority of Bama fans love Saban and what he has done here. I'm pretty shocked, not to mention, disappointed, to hear she feels this way.

I recommend that TideFans, et al send some Crimson Roses to Miss Terry and express our appreciation for her and the best Coach in the business.

RTR!!!!!!!

Perhaps. It's certain that our recruiting rivals will jump on it as proof he's taken the UT job. It didn't help at all in that theater...

I had the same thought, this will get the "Saban to Texas" band cranked up again. Luckily, Malzahn is taking that job so we have nothing to worry about.

I think perception is everything. Obviously, their perception is an unappreciative fan base. I can empathize will that sentiment. However, I think that their worldview (by world I mean Alabama Football) is certainly inaccurate. Do I think that we have been spoiled by Saban? Absolutely. Do I think Bama fans are unappreciative? No, I don't think so.

In fact, I think (but do not know for sure) there are many fans, such as myself, who have been taken back but the success we have experienced under Saban. Whether it ends 2 years, 6 years, or 15 years from now, I do not think the current dynasty is able to be fully appreciated because it is a work in progress. What I mean is, I think that we are still smack dab in the middle of it. I myself am numb to it. I pinch myself to make sure it is real.

We are living in a very special time in Alabama Football. I make the comment all the time to my wife, "This must have been what it was like under Coach Bryant". Sadly, I was 2 when he won his last championship, so I can only go on what I watch and read.

I guess my point is, saying the fan base is unappreciative of what CNS is doing may be confusing apathy for awe. I know I am certainly in awe of what the program has accomplished during his tenure. I cannot shut up without adding that it is certainly hard to make a case for not being appreciated when you have a statue in front of the stadium... Please forgive that comment, CNS.

There's one rule I know. If mama ain't happy, no one's happy. I'd love for there to be some way I could show my appreciation for the Sabans and what they've done for the program and the community.

I'd also like to know the full context of the quote. Reporters have ways of spinning things to get more hits.

For that reason alone...the effect on recruiting, and the importance of recruiting to Saban, it's hard to understand why she gave this interview at all. I noticed Saban declined to speak to the writer.

Something is mixed up, but it's clear the writer's intent is to put a wedge between Ms Terry and the Bama fans. I think something's missing, let's hold off before we get too upset or indignant, we might be overlooking something.

It will be interesting to see what she has to say in subsequent interviews. I am sure this one won't go away for a while.

That article, in my opinion, reflects more poorly on the Sabans than it does Alabama fans and community. Doesn't paint a rosy picture of any of their stops at MSU, LSU, Miami, and - apparently - Alabama.

Bummer.

Read my above post. If all the money the man could want, every resource available, A-day attendance, record sales for Bama gear, etc aren't enough, then the woman will never be happy; and frankly, I couldn't care less. Unless she was SEVERELY misquoted, that was the most narcissistic thing I've read, coming from a coach or his 'camp', so to speak.

No, I would pitch in to buy poor, under-appreciated Terry a dozen roses to convince her we appreciate her. Have some dignity, people

I think we are all responding to someone (WSJ) that is just trying to stir something up. And it may behoove us all to just sit back and think about what this is accomplishing...not much.
So, be cool, be calm, and don't believe everything you read. (In actuality I should have put my first post in blue, which I shall now go back and do).

Roll Tide, Roll...A'ight!

Yeah I can see this quickly turning into a negative thread about Mrs. Terry.
