Zo down to 275

If we could get a solid rotation set with Chapman , Murphy & Cody , and that's a mighty big if , I'd love to see Washington move about 4 feet to his right . Seems like a natural fit to me .
I agree, in HS, Zo was clocked at 4.7 in the forty, thats moving for a then 270 lb kid!

Is cody eligable for a redshirt? could he redshirt 08 to get into SEC playing shape??

My only comment on him otherwise is that there are two things you can't coach, one is speed, the other is MASS. Cody may be a walrus but by god in short yardage if they can't move his big butt they have a problem.

I just don't think Saban would waste a scholarship on a JUCO player if he thought he was going to be a project. Not enough time for that to happen. He might as well of given the scholly to a high school kid so he would of had four full years and possible red shirt. I think Cody needs to lose weight but it would be a waste to use up a scholly on a kid that the coaches just got him for his size and thought his ability and skills were classified as "a project".

IMO,Cody isn't a project. He is a situational player for short yard or goal line defense. There is no way he is going to be able to play more than 3-5 snaps at a time at his size. Also,I 've watched his film and he really doesn't have great quickness or speed, just a middle plugger so to speak..

I agree he'll be a situational player and more specifically probably on running situations. But look at it this way. He might be real good for blitz situations as well. A man that size has natural power/strength to carry that weight. Put him in a good S&C program and under a head coach that PREACHES aggressiveness and we might have ourselves more than JUST a middle plugger. If he can start driving an OL'man two to three yards into the backfield the offense will probably have to double him and you know that leaves space for blitzers to run wild. Saban saw enough of something to give him a scholly with only two years to use him and I don't think that "Something" was just "being big".
