As for Allen, I've spoken my piece on him. I figure he goes to Clemson, but maybe not. We'll see.

Any further speculation is a waste of time at this point. He and his family have effectively taken a vow of complete and total silence, so there is no information whatsoever out there. If you hear something, one way or the other, odds are that it's completely made up. The only people that know now are Allen and his family, and they are not telling.

One way or the other, I'm not getting worked up over it. I won't be going nuts if we get him, and I won't be shedding any tears if we lose him. We're going to be an elite program in the next few years regardless, and his decision won't change that one way or the other, so what difference does it really make?

Truth be told, at this point I'm much more interested / concerned in what happens with Coleman and Arie come Wednesday and what happens in 2011 and moving forward. Allen has become a mere afterthought.

That's probably our buddy, Charlestontiger.

They sure love to hire coaches with Alabama ties, to have those kind of opinions about Alabama. I always love the comments I hear about Alabama's fanbase. When you have a fanbase as large as our's, you're going to have all kinds. Unfortunately "all kinds" included all kinds.

Agreed--But I'll say this, BET--IMHO, the KA 'well' is already poisoned by all this speculation with Clemson being allowed to develop. EVEN if he holds firm on his committment at this point and eventually signs with us, I think he's damaged goods in the eyes of the hardcore fanbase--because the perception(right or wrong) will be that he and his family cut a deal with Coach Saban up and above what we offer r/f players . This soap opera with his brother has really hurt him, regardless of how he personally feels about it--and that is unfortunate, IMO.

Eh, I wouldn't say that. The original story was that he was going to take some visits on his brother's behalf and that Coach Saban encouraged this. If he comes out Wed and signs with us, it will mean that his last official statement was true. If not, then he changed his mind at some point. If his brother gets an offer somewhere that they visited and he still comes here, who could blame him for helping his brother out?

Eh, if he signs w/ us I won't have any hard feelings at all... especially if he performs up to the hype. On the other hand, if he signs w/ Clemson, I'll feel more sorry for him than anything else as he will probably do well on a sub par team w/ no chance at winning an NC. All around, no hard feelings here...

Hilarious!

I love it!!!
What I said was true, both in DS's declining the job and also the reasons. They can like it or lump it. I couldn't care less. There are certainly ways to run things other than the way Saban does. I happen to prefer the Saban way. Somehow, it seems to pay dividends, over and over...

Maurice Harris is a talented receiver and They are going after next year regardless of Allen. I am just saying that Maynard might have a chance to be a back up. Korn is going to be gone, and Parker might be. If that happens, no one is going to beat out Boyd. Their is potential for Boyd to take the job in spring. He is that good. If I were Keenan and read any of these blogs bashing him and his brother, I would decommit. He can go to any school and he will still end up playing on Sunday. Maynard might get a chance to play at Clemson? Who knows?

He originally wanted to play for a National Championship....plus play on Sundays.
You keep wanting to harp on Bama fans "bashing" Allen and it is just not so. The only thing close to bashing is related to his family wanting to use him to increase the value of his big brother. Keenan has already said where HE wants to play college ball....we just hope he doesn't let his brother crash his dream of playing for a NC.
BTW, if it is as you say.....that Clemson could use Maynard in your QB situation...just offer him a scholarship regardless off what Allen does.

Deliveryman35, there will be no problems at all if Allen sticks with his commit to the Tide. He may have worked all this out with CNS. The only problem would be with a package deal and I don't believe CNS will go that route.

This is kind of interesting: Clemson Fans Are Watching You....

TigerNet Forums

For those of you who have not read what the Clemson fans are saying, you should read this. There are saying some really funny things on this thread. I spewed the water I was drinking all over my monitor, keyboard and wall I was laughing so hard.

Now I know why Clemson is called "Auburn on the lake."

The real irony here is I hope the Clemson fans really believe they can use Maynard in the end. i am not sure where this is going to end up and at this point really do not care, but come Wednesday at 9am they will both sign their NLI and be the property of that program. Maynard's NLI wil not have wording in it that says you only get to come here if KA comes. It is already signed by the staff. I would love for him to announce for Clemson, sign the NLI, and then KA sign his to UA. The whole Clemson nation would melt down and I would just laugh remembering how they all said they needed Maynard, not just to get KA but for QB.

Re: Is Keenan Allen a soft verbal? (Put all discussion of Allen's visits in this thre

Clemson fans and Bama fans have a lot in common. We both have school-colored glasses and great loyalty to our programs. Living in the area, I can vouch that Clemson is a very good school with good football fans. They get just as cocky as we do and we are both passionate to a fault. I've never thought we had an adversarial relationship--no reason to. I recall how excited our fan base was to have Clemson on the schedule. They felt the same way (at the time g).

Anyway, I can see why a prospect would want to attend Clemson or Bama. My heart is with Bama, which settles it for me. My guess is that's pretty much the way it is for everyone.

If you want to compare frenge fans, listen to both schools' after-game call in shows. Not much difference. LOL.

My prediciton: KA to Bama; Lattimore to USC.

Poor Clemson fans. It's pretty bad that when you try to rationalize why your coach is a good coach and the first thing out of your mouth is "he's a good recruiter." Experience seems to say that if you use that for a reason maybe he really isn't all that. See Ron Zook.

Anyway the ACC was pathetic this year and they still didn't win.

Re: Is Keenan Allen a soft verbal? (Put all discussion of Allen's visits in this thre

lol @ "Most Bama fans are unknowledgeable about football and are just coots that actually win". We have probably the most knowledgeable fan base in the country, bar none. We live football 365 days a year here. Jealousy is a heckuva drug!

I'm glad they enjoy Dabo. I just don't think the Bama nation would 'enjoy' 7-6 on a yearly basis.

Everybody seems to think us picking up Menzie means we are missing out on Allen or Belue didn't make grades. But couldn't it also mean we are missing out on Stone and Coleman?

I'm not really sure what reason Clemson fans have to be cocky about. :conf2: They are a very mediocre school in a very terrible football conference. Maybe going 9-5 in an awful conference and making it the conference championship is enough for them.

I'm keeping the faith. Keenan will roll with the Tide.

It would seem to mean that we miss on Allen or Belue won't make the grades since Menzie is a DB. If we were missing out on both Stone and Coleman you would think we would have another OL to go after. IMHO think Belue did make it and we are still good with Allen. I understand the whole family deal to a point. I would make a visit to Clemson to get my brother a look, but I wouldn't turn down a chance to learn under the best DB coach in the country.
