It might violate the spirit of the rules, but not the letter of the rules. Obviously, schools ARE permitted to grant football scholarships up to their maximum allotment. There is nothing that says the players you give them to have to be any good or unrelated/unaffiliated with anyone you else you sign. Players sign because of where friends/relatives/other star players/etc. sign to play all the time. As long as the ONLY thing being offered to either one is a scholarship, that's okay.Tell me - how does obtaining a scholarship for a relative not qualify as receiving extra benefits? :conf3:
Scholarships to players are allowed benefits. They aren't deemed "extra". Jobs for Mom and Dad, cars, cash, and most everything else are considered extra. The issue of offering a scholly to one to attract another usually takes care of itself because coaches must weight the benefit of the star player to the cost of offering a precious spot to someone who may not be good enough to contribute. It is almost always wise to avoid players looking for "package deals".
