I’m guessing you’d handle that “child†just like you said, although voting age is past childhood. He would be guilty of forging her signature, that’s another felony.
But you’re also operating under the assumption that the “dominant spouse†topic is a thing; if it is, and “she†is that afraid, she is also probably afraid he’d see her voting in a polling place (we don’t have “booths†here, just tiny partitions I can see over and around without even trying.
No, on balance, with maybe a mailed receipt confirmation of your vote (which maybe you could contest in person if you detect fraud) voting by mail is easier, cheaper and much less subject to fraud than most of the systems in place today.
