I heard that too. I wonder how that would work. Because the fate of next season for college basketball and college baseball is also up in the air, I wonder how they plan on proceeding with moving football to the spring. And if baseball and basketball do start (both would be delayed probably) then they would suffer as football would take center stage.
Once upon a time there was a complete idiot, who took over a spring football league and insisted they should play in the fall. You know how this disaster ends so.......

Regular start with full season but with reduced tickets being sold to each game to allow for distancing between fans, say every third seat occupied. Be a real mess to arrange especially for season ticket holders and couples attending
That won't happen. As was implied earlier, if the fans need space, so do the players.
I have read about an antibody being developed that may last for 10-12 weeks. Earliest it could be developed and tested would be September. If that happens, we could possibly see games played with no fans. Otherwise, until a vaccine is developed we are not getting any sports.
Remember as kids when we played cowboys and Indians or cops and robbers, or war. We used our fingers as guns, and shouted "hey I shot you"? That is what football will be, they maintain 6 feet and shout hey I tackled you.

It sounds crazy I know. Actually spring football is what I feel is the most likely outcome which is why I chose delayed start full season. They may not want to play football in the fall fearing a second wave of the virus may appear.

Well there's an uplifting message for the AM...Look, none of us know. All we can do is hope for the best. We (Bama) want to lead by example. If that's the first to be back on campus, great! If we're the first to cancel the season, well then it is what it is and we can trust it was done with the utmost in due diligence...
I'm hoping and praying for football...but if it doesn't happen we can be damn sure that it was given every opportunity...
We'll see NFL football at some point this year...and I think we'll see The Tide take the field too...I just don't know how or when...none of us do...

Dr. Michael Saag, Director of the UAB Center for Aids Research, had the virus and has "98.5% recovered." He was on CSPAN last night but had the following to say about sports returning in an interview with al.com:
"Saag took an audience question about how the country can get back to having organized sports again. Saag offered some optimism for those who are hoping to watch football on TV in the fall, but perhaps less for people who want to watch the games in person.
"I can imagine a situation where we aggressively test players who are going to be in the arenas, be it football or basketball, whatever, and we monitor them and allow them to play. I doubt we’re going to be going back to arenas with 100,000 people in the stands anytime soon, but that’s okay. I think we can still have a game with the proper type of precautions for the players, assuming that can be done well, and then we would televise it or show it in other ways.
“That’s what i think might be realistic by the college or pro football seasons this August. It’s just a guess and in some ways, to be honest, your guess is as good as mine.â€Â

My wife is a Nurse Manager here in Georgia and she told me that things seem to be improving at her hospital.
I hope that we get to watch football in the fall but if not, I guess I will get to deer hunt on Saturday evenings Lord willing.

If the season gets nuked, then it will ONLY be done as an absolute last resort. Every possible scenario will be looked at. The whole second wave possibility is what is hanging over the season like the sword of Damocles. To that end, I wonder what is meant by "second wave". Do they see the first wave ending? And if so, when? And should a second wave hit, would they shut everything down all over again? Closing schools and businesses. Sending everyone home again. Schools having to end the year prematurely, but this time in October or November. Just maddening to even think about
Not to get all "financially" on this thread, but this whole thing should be a stern lesson to all of us individually (me included) and organizationally (including UA and SEC and NCAA) to save, save, save until you have enough to get through a long cycle of no-to-low revenue/income. To not do so makes us make decisions we otherwise might not make.
As for the season, I would be ecstatic with an 8 game football season in early 2021 replacing the 2020 season if there are no alternatives for 2020 fall. Forget about the playoffs and SECC and just play conference games. Don't play the D1AA teams because nobody wants to go to those.
