No - he played bad against TX - I agree. But lost the game ? Not close. The team made 10 penalties - including two that took away TD passes Milroe threw.
One of those TDs was a horribly off target pass that should have been an INT and pick 6 but for a fortuitous tip backwards to the WR in the EZ, 10yds from where Milroe threw it. Please stop using that TD as an example of Milroe’s ability.

I agree - Milroe sucked. But if the LOS had played at an average level on both sides of the LOS we would have won the game. I'm not a Milroe fan.
Even with the poor OL play, if he doesn’t throw the ball directly to the other team TWICE, we win the game. He literally ran right into a sack twice after holding the ball too long.

OK...I know we're all frustrated. There are lots of opinions as to what the problem(s) are and the best ways to address them.

Respectful debate is what TideFans is for. It's not for insulting someone who sees it differently from you.

If you see a point differently, that's fine. Say you see it differently and present the logic behind your position.

If you characterize a different opinion laughable, ludicrous, asinine, stupid, whatever, you're crossing the line from healthy and constructive debate into personally-directed argumentative yammering.

The post will be deleted. If you continue, suspensions will ensue.

The 45 yd rope to Dippre down the seam for one. Milroe can’t hit that and Buchner wouldn’t even try.
45 yard ropes is the one thing Milroe does well especially on a designed one read play. Its the 10-15 yard routes he seems to struggle with. Go back and watch the last 2 games. He hit on those longer throws. The interceptions were both in the 10-15 range. The second one was simply not looking off the safety. I thought he made some good throws just made two horrible ones. Simpson may be the second coming of Bryce and Tua rolled in one. I hope he is. I just don't know how people are seeing it from that one throw and handing off the ball really well. Keep in mind Milroe dropped back 39 times against Texas. How is that using his strengths? Milroe needs the Blake Simms offense.

Simply I will be behind who ever Coach Saban puts out there. I hope Ty gets all the reps with the 1's this week and start next week. I just want Milroe to be ready just in case Ty is not the second coming as you and Coby seem to think.

I don’t disagree with this. I missed the 1st half and most of the 3rd quarter. At some point after I got to watch, there was a sideline shot of Coach and a player walked by him, bumped into him, and Coach did not say a thing or look at him. I thought Coach would not have let that go by with no response. It just hit me wrong.
I don’t think Coach will rip a kid for that. Everyone is wanting him to be fire and brimstone but some of the things don’t deserve it.

All I know is that I broke the record for the amount of times the "f" word was used over a four hour period and I wasn't shouting field goal.

I'm hoping this is a Coker 2015 moment as someone else said. Simpson needs to take this team and run with it. Rees needs to call plays to maximize his abilities. Roydell needs to be the guy at RB. The OL needs get angry. I mean legit angry. The kind of angry you DON'T talk about.. you just haul off and knock the other guy off his feet without saying a word.

The rest of the team is fine. The rest of the team might be championship level.

There’s too many diff posts to quote so here’s my 2 cents. Simpson is my choice but I don’t think anyone won the job today but here’s the rub- Milroe can’t or won’t read a defense and is a turnover waiting to happen. Saban has always and will always be risk adverse so that right there is a knock #1 on him. Secondly, everyone saying he can make all the throws is absolutely positively wrong. He can’t throw the short throws with any consistency nor touch. He has no intermediate pass in his arsenal and his deep ball is just ok. If they’re streaming open yes he can loft it up and let the wr run under it but guess what? So can most div 1 qbs. That’s not special and does you no good if you can’t or won’t throw people open. He’s consistently late with the ball bc he’s uncomfortable throwing to people who aren’t already open which makes him miss his windows. He’s like a freaky but less accurate Blake sims. He might get there as a 5th year senior but as of rn he’s simply not there. I will say I respect him as a man for sticking it out and not transferring and for the way he handles himself. He seems far more mature than I was at that age

Our bigger issue offensivly is the o line IMO. Doesn't really matter who's under center if we are unable to consistently provide a clean pocket.

We were only able to score 17 points against USF. A team that allowed Western Kentucky to score more than 40 on them (Ohio state beat wku by 60 plus points today and held them to 10)

The only two touchdows we had were goal line rushing tds. We had NO PASSING TDs. Between both of our QBs that played, we only had 107 passing yards.

WKUs qb threw for over 300 plus against the same USF defense.

This is not just a QB issue ... this team needs to figure out the best way to move the ball consistently as a team. And as much grief was given to Milroe starting ... we still put up more offense last week against a much better defense. So I'm all for whichever starting 11 unit that can move the ball and score consistently.

This offensive effort was probably one of the worst we've had against an unranked opponent in years.

But like I said a win is a win Dave, so at least we are going into next week with a win and have time to come up with a game plan for Ole Sis. RTR

Question

If Ty was the best in practice this week why did he not get the start? I would never question coach he has brought us the ring 6 times but something is going on in that QB room that we don't know.

We will need way more than 17 next week.

RTR !!

It would help if Rees wasn’t hellbent on making this a passing team. I think he finally realized that in the 2nd half with Simpson. I honestly don’t know what to expect next week. I could see Lane beating us by 4 TDs. I can also see Golding having no answer for our run game.

It makes no sense. Rees has always been a run first kind of guy. I don't know what he is doing.

I think it could be by design to find the better passer vs a lesser opponent.

Lane and Golding are going to be tough next week.

This QB battle is truly one of the most puzzling things I’ve ever witnessed. After last season, everything pointed to Simpson, but then it just didn’t happen. But now, after seeing the result, it’s like “why wasn’t he starting the entire time?” It truly is mind-boggling.
