Questions about Milroe.

I’m sorry you just don’t accidentally put up 500 something yards on Georgia’s defense. It’s not like it was a one game thing either because he played great at Wisconsin the week before as well, let’s not act like there hasn’t been regression in his game.

He has resorted back to his bad habits and he’s not confident in anything he’s doing out there on the field.

Wisconsin has played 2 teams with a pulse, losing to both. USC put well over 300 yards passing up on them. We didn't even get 200, only throwing the ball 17 times, which in the modern game is a very low number. The issues were still there, but the badgers don't have the ability to expose it like many SEC teams do.

Today's world of College Sports is now totally infiltrated by, horror of all horrors, Marketing and if we are honest, an influx of 'legitimate' Gambling interest. With the current collegiate generation, they have been raised on endless encouragements to be YouTube Famous, TikTok Famous, FB Famous, and so on and so on and so on. When you hear players talk about what is important for them, the key words you hear now are BRAND or worse yet, MY BRAND. Current Grandparents (Gen X'rs) and Great Grandparents (Boomers) should all be cringing when we hear those words. Somewhere along the line, we missed out on teaching some important lessons, like the benefits of team work to achieve a goal.... the importance of individual achievement that benefits the team as a whole and giving credit to the team when it succeeds, and showing humility when it fails.
The human element plays a role here as well. Many of the parents, grandparents, etc that raised these young people were taught these things at some point through their maturation process. It is in our DNA to be greedy. When money gets involved, whether the more mature person knows better or not, they will seek to take care of themselves and will encourage their offspring to do the same. We have heard since we could speak that "money is the root of all evil" but the reality is greed is. Greed is permeating in CFB today. Unless regulations are put in place, nothing will change that.

I really don't know what to make of Milroe anymore. He has moments of playing clutch, and he has moments of making terrible reads/throws/decisions. I think it's why so many on this board are split on him. Neither side is really wrong, he's just inconsistent. I also don't think the play calling has helped him, this year or last.

Let me help you. Read what you wrote again.

What you are saying is he's boom/bust; .500 in big games; undependable in the clutch.

Why should Bama have a QB with those credentials???

Ok, and?

The whole "you shouldn't lose your starting job due to injury" thing is a myth, right up there with "a win is a win" and "you are what your record says you are".
AND I didn’t say that shouldnt matter one bit. Just saying that *might* be a reason Milroe isnt straight up with coaches, atheltic staff, etc about how injured he is. Again, IF this is the case and IF he’s injured. Milroe knows if others are better than him. After all this is just a bunch of message board fodder. We could be right or very well may be horribly off on the whole situation.

I'm not singling you out. I'm saying the people that are suggesting Nilroe should be benched because he might be injured are completely missing the point. It doesn't matter if he's injured. He should be benched because he has destroyed our program.

We are 50/50 against Mizzou with Nilroe. We still might lose to LSU with Ty, but it's a guaranteed loss if we don't make a change.

Nope. If Milroe is as bad as you say he is (and he has been bad I’m not denying that), and Ty is this magic elixir that’s going to fix all of our problems then we should be confident in the rest of the games right?

I've never screamed "throw the ball" as much in my life! lol...he holds it for an eternity and then throws into coverage or way over wide open players. It's especially a lottery in the Red Zone and 1st and goal...he does not want to throw quickly into a tight window, it seems...he also struggles to lead receivers and throw them open...it is either behind them or right in the chest, so they don't have the momentum to run after the catch. I dont think we see any change this week despite the obvious need to do so

JM simply doesn't have self confidence in accuracy. Has a bazooka but can't consistently hit the bullseye. He seldom hits receivers in stride even when he connects. I cannot tell you the number of times coaching my oldest son in little league baseball to "Stop Pushing the Ball and THROW IT" when he was on the mound. That's what Milroe is doing, in a sense, and the INT's are in his head permanently now. Time to move on.

a bazooka is way more accurate. I prefer to think about it like a smoothbore musket. It's going to go generally in the direction it's aimed, but no one really knows exactly where it will end up.

I'm sorry but if you are a coach and can't tell if a player is injured or not you shouldn't be coaching. A JV coach can look at his QB's throwing motion, accuracy, facial expressions, (insert 400 other things), and tell if he is alright to play. Like someone said above, if he's hurt he needs to be on the bench, if he isn't hurt he definitely needs to be on the bench.

Milroe will never throw accurately with any sort of consistency with the throwing mechanics he has. His shoulders, hips and feet are a disaster when he throws even with a clean pocket. He's hardly ever driving through a throw with his body, everything is almost always an arm throw.

His front shoulder flies open because his feet aren't set, his throws are going to sail.....hence why he throws deep balls fairly well....the receivers can adjust and run under them.

I'm not even going to get into his consistently late throws.....because at the absolute base level his fundamental throwing mechanics are abhorrent at this point.
I worked at and studied the mechanics of throwing for a number of years. Thinking about it now it is clear that it begins with basic motor skills that have to be developed literally from childhood on. Tua's Dad did that!

I have never envisioned Milroe with his mechanics being successful as a QB. It does not appear that he reacts well to pressure and then everything comes apart with his mechanics.

It will take years and a lot of professional help for him to have confidence in throwing the football under pressure.

That's a really good question, and I don't really have an answer.
Fair enough. I think in years past, we've had enough NFL-level talent that stayed for 3 years to overcome the "mental errors" that Saban referenced so much the last few years. Not sure if that's the case this year. Add a new staff and schemes and you have a recipe for lots of Maalox moments. That said, there's no explanation I can think of for Milroe's play last Saturday outside what's already been said on this thread.
