2025 Recruiting: 2025 Recruiting Targets, II

So, Alabama is trying to get Haywood to sign with us On Wednesday? Pretty much saying, if you don't sign wtih us on wedneday we will move on?

I would assume its more that if he waits to sign it would be because he plans to visit Michigan, and that would likley means the big offer wins out. Its not likely that we just move on.

Jam is probably right with that assumption though

Still have an amazing OL class with or without him. Fwiw I haven't seen us pop up for any new 2025 ol guys as backups but we would lilley turn to the portal for another OT if we don't get haywood.

I think we need a vet OL anayway.

Yeah, agents typically get a percentage, so they will be pushing for the most dollars and not for the best fit for the player...

True.
And that makes sense for the players in the NFL when they are in their prime. It does not necessarily make sense to the players early in their careers when they need to prioritize growth over money to get big payday later on.

Honestly not as upset about losing Haywood, as I am about teams just being able to wait until the last minute and then just offer them an insane amount of money to flip. We may need to reevaluate the concept of Early Signing Day, and structure the periods in a way to dissuade this sort of thing. Michigan didn't even really start recruiting him until last week. Absolutely ridiculous.

They may have put a little effort before, but it wasn't very much. He wasn't even considering them when his recruitment was open. It baffles me that a team can just put in zero effort to recruit a kid and then they can just wait till the end of the signing period, and drop a huge amount of money their way and sign them. We're the ones who put all the hard work in on the recruiting trail.

I'd ask the kid and his parents if this was about the money and if they said "yes" or gave me any indication this is what the "hold up" is about, then I'd go ahead and make the decision for them and pull the kid's offer. One OL'man doesn't make a great recruiting class and honestly, the staff doesn't have time to be held hostage until February.

I actually like the decision by the staff if they indeed “put a stake in ground” and told him to sign Wednesday or we’re moving on. If you stand for nothing, you fall for anything.

Jackson is the Best OT in this class imo and the coaches. Carroll might be the best OL period in this class. Haywood isn't viewed as highly and not deemed must have. we will never try to win a NIL war. If this was more known in summer likely would've gone after someone else but Michigan wasn't desperate then. KR got huge bags thrown at him btw and said no , honoring his commitment. Also, IMO the top 2 OT for 26 are the best in the last 4-5 years and both have been on campus this season.
