Decline of the GOP episode XV

Cheating in elections only seems to happen when Republicans lose.
You said it, not us. 😆

But CA brought this on to themselves. If it takes you a whole damn month to manufactor count votes, people are going to think there are shenanigans afoot. (And frankly, they are probably right.)

It’s always amused me that not only were Trump’s lawyers very careful to never allege their unproven fraud propaganda in their court filings, but the fact that if a comatose Biden somehow managed to oversee the theft of an election in six states - two that had incumbent GOP Secretaries of State - then Trump deserved to lose for not being able to prevent election theft.

It’s like the folks who think (literally without a shred of evidence beyond 40-years later hearsay) Reagan got Iran to delay the release of the hostages until after the 1980 election. Let’s say - solely for the sake of this ridiculous argument - that Reagan’s team DID manage to sneak off to Madrid/Paris/Algiers in an SR-71 Blackbird to bribe Iran. If you’re telling me he managed to do this without Carter, his SECDEF, Pentagon, and NSC knowing a military supersonic jet vanished for a few days DURING THE COLD WAR then Carter deserved to lose worse than he did.

(Following that allegation is like trying to follow Trump’s electoral fraud - depending on who is telling the story, the meeting(s) were in March or July or October, the jet was a C-130 or 141 or an SR-71, and the meetings were in Madrid/Paris/Algiers and the participants were Bush or Connally or Bill Casey or all of them).

And it would take a five second Google search to see that California has by far more votes to count than anyone, it is done by mail, ballots can be counted if they arrive up to 7 days after the election, and it TAKES TIME to (wait for it) VERIFY SIGNATURES, something Trump tells us he’s for.

And there is nothing new about it, Tom Bradley thought he was elected governor in California all the way back in 1982 when the ballots were counted on Tuesday, but after they counted all of the absentee ballots that arrived, the REPUBLICAN (Deukmejian) won, and there wasn’t a single Republican complaining about how long counting ballots took. Back then, there was no early voting and very few people voted by mail. 73% of the residents of Los Angeles County voted by mail, which means you have to verify their signatures, which is I just noted Trump claims he likes.

Folks don’t get to have this argument, both ways. If you insist on signature verification, you can’t complain when it takes a long time in the largest state in the country.

Yeah, Democrats never once suggested Katharine Harris and Jeb Bush conspired to ensure W won Florida, didn’t suggest Diebold voting machines in Ohio were hacked, didn’t attempt to get absentee ballots thrown out in Florida in 2000 on a signature technicality while demanding “count every vote”, and Stacey Abrams’s voters didn’t suggest the 2018 GA governor’s race was At least less than correct if not stolen.

I’M KIDDING, they did EVERY ONE of those things!!!!

Now to be fair - they are a gunshot to the foot on the allegations part while the GOP is a shot to the head, but let’s not whitewash them and revise history with the notion “Democrats never did this.”

What they did not do, of course, is storm the US Capitol and engage in an attempted insurrection.

Yet.

I'm not an election denier but no one who believes 2020 was stolen believes Biden was behind it.

MAGA Christianity is Anti-Jesus. Just ask Jesus.

Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde’s compassionate sermon at the National Prayer Service in DC perfectly exposed MAGA Christians’ hateful heresy.

The immediate flood of vitriol directed at the Bishop by Trump supporters in the wake of her impassioned message directed toward President Trump regarding empathy for the vulnerable isn’t surprising.

That’s what happens when these people are faced with the teachings of Jesus: they respond like vampires to daylight.

Trump Christians despise the Revered for the same reason they despise all ministers who confront them with the Gospels. I’ve experienced it for a decade and their outrage now is familiar and predictable.

I got kicked off this forum about 15 years ago for continuing to bring up the fact that most evangelicals(at least the hard-right ones, which are predominate) worship Republican Jesus. A deity that has very little to do with the red letters of the NT.

While all of the above is true, it must be stressed that it’s a matter of scale. Today’s GOP is happy to imply (if not outright state) that our election system is flawed and untrustworthy in many races that they lose. Sowing distrust in our method of governance is dangerous to our democracy (yes, I know we’re a Republic), yet Republicans don’t care. The Russians don’t need to spread doubt about our elections. The GOP is happy to do that for them.

When courts or election officials make a ruling, Democrats (almost without fail) abide by it. Trump and his sycophants cry even louder.

Sadly this is true, (though l reject the preposterous notion there’s anything unique about the red letters).

So Florida (with a population of 23.4 million) can get their votes counted in a day, but California (39 million) needs a month? Does not compute.

Also, let's be clear, there are voter shenanigans on both sides. Every election year there are arrests for people who represent both parties. It does happen. The question isn't whether or not it leads to a Capitol riot; the question is whether or not it changes outcomes. I remember how heartbroken I was when I learned that Kennedy beat Nixon due to mob influence and I absolutely love Kennedy.

Also, also, fraud isn't the only thing that possibly changes elections. When the two behemoth parties are suing to keep third-party candidates off the ballots, I have a problem with that. Only the behemoth parties are allowed to debate. The media pulls either to the left or right harder than a beaten up Wal-Mart shopping cart. Don't even get me started on clown shows like the infamous "51 intelligence agents" or that ridiculous J6 committee.

Truth is, I stopped having faith in the outcomes of our election system waaaaay back in 2000. I never again voted for either party and that holds true to this very day.

It’s not just evangelicals anymore. It’s a widespread way of thinking throughout churches around the country. One can certainly be a Christian and vote for Trump, but I guess most of those people choose to overlook Trump’s actions and policies that conflict with the teachings of Jesus in favor of those that matter more in their daily lives.

From my understanding, CA requires absentee ballots to be counted as long as they are postmarked on or before election day. This means there are quite a few ballots that end up being counted long after election day. They have to hold everything open until there is no more likelihood that a stray ballot will show up.

I understand that, but even if they need another seven days for this, I'm still failing to see how that translates to a month. With such a large population, one would think CA would at least try to streamline their processes, but they intentionally do not. If you don't want people to think you are engaging in voter fraud, don't do things that make it look like you are engaging in voter fraud. It's a simple idea that is routinely rejected there and elsewhere.

To you it makes it appear they are engaging in fraud.

To the rest of us who understand that CA has been trying to increase participation of registered voters for over a decade and is moving to mostly a mail-in system. Because of this they have additional checks and verification process to make sure the ballots are not fraudulent which slows down their counting process.

It's not that hard to understand if you want to understand the truth.

They flat out do not care about the average American. In fact, they hate many Americans. Yet they claim to be the Christian party.

They can tell me all day long they are Christians but, I see the way they act and know the truth. (James 2:18; Matthew 7:20-23; John 13:35)

Eyes closed; heads buried. Heil Trump!
