Sorry, I posted in the wrong thread about him. He committed yesterday moving us to the "#1 Class in '28," which is crazy to consider...but it's only 2 years out!!!2028 player
Saw something that said Bama was behind Indiana and Texas for Sales
That has been out there for a while. Texas is relatively new since his visit, but supposedly Indiana has been his #1 for a while
Money usually wins out.......
I think it's safe to say we can move on from the idea of Sales coming to UA
It's hard to top the biggest, shiniest toy offered sometimes.................heart is great, but these guys are chasing maximum bucks often at the pressuring of family and friends...........and many of them will wind up broke after their NFL careers due to being siphoned their whole lives.............I know Bama has a strategy for blowing alot next class, but Id like to get this one. I'm not sure its heart many times.........just "what will you give me"?On3 NIL valuations cites that top 5 Star Receivers are receiving 500K to 1 Million. What I've read is that Indiana and Texas (the new leader) have positioned themselves north of that mark, but nobody is spitting out a number to the public.
SI reported on July 9 the race is down to Indiana and Texas with the hint Texas is the leader.
It sounds like we aren't willing to chase Texas' offer. I know we are tired of "losing" these players to Texas. Smoothers comes to mind. The Auburn transfer is another, although some thought he never really considered Bama. And now Sales.
I admit it's not looking good. Our only hope is the heart. I imagine our managment team has a financial figure they'd be willling to pay, which wouldn't be cheap regardless. But, if Sales truly intends to cash in on the most lucrative offer, it won't be Bama. I hate it, but I also understand it!
The only scenario I can see is Sales getting his final offers from Indiana and Texas, and then calling Bama and saying, "My heart is there but I have to make a business decision. But, if you can go a little higher with your offer, I'd like to make it work." If that happened, he'd probably come for less than Texas or Indiana is willing to pay... but even then, he'll still be getting paid a crazy amount.
At some point, I just wish we'd be willing to "win" some of these battles to prove a point to top recruits...but I also understand that while there is reportedly big money to spend, there's also the practical side of things, which believes that much shouldn't go to just one player.
rankings this early do not mean anything.Sorry, I posted in the wrong thread about him. He committed yesterday moving us to the "#1 Class in '28," which is crazy to consider...but it's only 2 years out!!!
I get it. Nick said it to Julio and probably several others. We will win with him or we will win without him.
For sure, but it's awesome it's getting off to a great start, especially with the hand-wringing the '27 class is getting!rankings this early do not mean anything.
true datFor sure, but it's awesome it's getting off to a great start, especially with the hand-wringing the '27 class is getting!
Because at some point you gotta determine if one player is worth potentially losing 2 or 3 other players over and is the money for this 1 player worth it.It’s obvious reality. Bama lost two three guys recently they wanted: the kid from Mississippi, the kid from Tennessee, and this last receiver. What is so difficult to understand that if Alabama wanted to keep those guys they would’ve just matched/beaten the NIL offer? In all three instances Alabama had the commitment/ was predicted to secure the recruit, but a an improved NIL offer stole the player away.
If Alabama had all this NIL money yall swear they do, why would they let a recruit get away?
