Bama Coordinator Search Thread

ESPN now reporting Locks is going to get the promotion.

Betting the holdup here was Saban still trying to figure out how he could hire Freeze for an on the field position while keeping Locks. Whether that happens or not, Locks was still going to be no less than co-OC. With him already on staff, there was no real rush to make a formal announcement.

Heck, UA just formally announced Jeff Banks yesterday, and he's been recruiting for Alabama all this week.
ESPN saying he will also coach QB's. Have not heard of his experience with the QB's. Anyone know his experience with QB's if any?

Did I read in one of the linked articles in this thread that Burton Burns was considing retirement and Karl Dunbar was looking to return to the NFL? If so that would be two more openings. Who you got?

Burton has been a staple of this program and his work with the tailbacks can't be understated. I would hate to see him go but at some point you gotta make time for the grandkids while you're still able, eh?

The loss of Burton Burns would be seismic. Dude turned 2 different RB's into Heisman winners. His ability to consistently evaluate and develop personnel to be effective year after year, offensive scheme after offensive scheme facing whatever defense is out there is unbelievable. Has to be one of the greatest RB coaches in the history of the sport.

Haven’t seen/heard about Burns. Dunbar going to the pros is expected and not so sure he isn’t getting a nudge from Saban. Joe Pannunzio is expected to move back to an off field role. If so 3 left to hire, WR, TE, DL.

So far:

OC/QB: Locksley
RB: Burns
OL: Key
ST: Banks
ILB: Pete
OLB: Tosh
DB: Scott

I bet Burton & Bobby both retire when Saban does. I think those are two of his most trusted advisors/confidants. I'm sure the stories they will be able to tell after retirement will be phenomenal.

Just wondering who would be considered to be a " home run " D line hire ?

6 new coaches plus one or 2 promotions in one offseason . If we repeat can Saban please not be passed over for the Bear Bryant trophy again?

Am I correct in assuming that Tosh would be the D Coordinator plus DL position coach? I was thinking that Golding would be Co DC and LB coach since we hired the DB coach.

They're expected to be co-DCs with one being the sole play-caller. Golding shadowed Pruitt and the ILBs during bowl prep. He's expected to coach there.

Has Saban built a machine or what? Can call on a coach to make a 'lateral' move (same position) but who turns down CNS now? You know you chances of getting a ring and a promotion are a near certainty.

What a time to be a Bama fan. RTR!

Gattis would be a great hire. PSU's WRs have a knack for getting open deep...making good catches in one on one too.
