Bama-Vandy Postgame Thread...

missed calls are a part of the game, even with the game on the line it happens. what made this game so bad is that in a run of just a couple of minutes the refs completely blew 5 critical calls, and they all went the same way. The no call on the hammer to the face was the worst, calling Green out when he was not was a close second, the no call on the foul right before the hammer to the face was next, calling the foul on Tinsley shot when there was not one next, and not calling the bump against Green at the baseline 5th (truthfully that is one that tends to go either way late in a game). To screw that many calls up in that short of a time with the game at stake warrants a serious review. I'm not talking firing or suspension, just reprimands, but the refs do need to be made aware that this level of screw-up is not acceptable on the major D1 level. This is supposedly a good group of refs, but there is no doubt that they did not have a good day at the office.

Sort of funny that the SEC Coordinator of Officials was at the game!

I'll have to say that these guys work pretty hard at getting training for officials. I worked at the Pat Kennedy Basketball Camp when I was at FSU and they give no quarter to the officials that train during the summer.

These guys get off for 3/4 of the year . So I don't buy the over worked theory..Bottom line is it is the REFS responsibility to call the game fairly according to the rules, regardless of circumstance.

If it was 1 or even 2 bad or blown calls I'd not be irate, but the 5 minute debacle we all witnessed is inexcusable and needs to be addressed, with pink slips.
They have other jobs besides reffing basketball games. Some ref football games too. I'm not making excuses for the horrible calls. I'm just saying the refs can't officiate effectively when they travel across the country every night/day and ref.

I was sitting here waiting for golf and Vandy just smoked Kentucky. Do we play Vandy again?

You know, this team has come a long way from where it was last year and even from the first of this year. Once he gets a couple of outside shooters recruited we're gonna be dangerous.

Coach Grant, and Team, I'm proud of Y'all. Keep working at it.
