****Bama vs. The Barn - PostGame Thread****

I agree and if he was hurt bring in Henry. Coaching lost this game.
I hate to second guess the coaches, but I did NOT understand this. Not at all. Why not bring in a fresh back now and then? I sort of understand the kick at the end of the game (although it's still somewhat bizarre) but the running back situation I DO NOT understand. But, it is done. It's finished. If "ifs and buts" were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas AND be in Pasadena in January.

Re: Why I think Saban did it

I don't agree with the "home cooking", but I do agree they were HORRIBLE! I thought both TD plays that were overturned were actually TD's on both sides. The wife said I was just saying that because the barn scored, but I said it because they flat out sucked. I still thought Mincy should have been tossed for throwing a punch even though it didn't matter much.

.
You make a valid point, I'm just saying auburn tends to get those spots only when they play at home, that's why I say "Home Cooking"..

I don't understand why our coaches flat refused to play him in the 2nd half, especially when he was more productive than Yeldon in the 1st half, that's a true head scratcher..

Yep that still makes me scratch my head MORE than the final play. I just don't understand why he didn't get a carry either after averaging 8.3 per carry on our scoring drive. His fresh legs would have been great in the 2nd half no matter what drive he played in IMHO.

I no longer like the iron bowl. And no, it didn't just start because we failed to beat them tonight. It just pains me that we never beat auburn when they are a 9 win or better team. After YEARS of wanting to get the iron bowl away from Legion Field and into Bryant-Denny Stadium (in years that we host the game), it finally happens. But, when does it happen? In 2000 when we are bad. Then, we had to deal with that whole "hundred years to score on auburn in Tuscaloosa" mess. Not only did it take several games before we finally scored on them at home (our REAL home), it took even more games to finally defeat them at home. Then, when we do beat them at home, it is in years when auburn is SO bad, it is a wonder they can even put a team on the field. The best auburn team we have beaten in the last 20 or so years was probably 1994. They went 9-1-1. Since then, every barn team we have beaten has been either sub .500, or close to it. We have no problem thumping the bad auburn teams. But, boy, let them put together a half way decent team, and we are just unable to get the job done.

My quick thoughts:

1. Congrats to AU for making the plays...
2. Anyone blaming Cade Foster needs to back off, before today he had missed 1 FG
3. The chances of the game ending the way it did are very slim.
4. This team IMO has over achieved and still has a remote outside chance to play in the BCS title game and almost is guaranteed a BCS bowl. They can win 12 games and finish in the top 3.

But the same thing can be said about the Barn with two obvious exceptions.

They won six in a row against us. Never mind that only two of those teams were any good in the first place. Or that all were crippled by sanctions.

The last two wins by them have only been because WE left points on the board. We can't blame them when we don't do what we're supposed to do.

Tough night for Foster. It was clear though he wasn't ready to kick tonight and makes many remember the lswho game when he had his other memorable horrible night.

The ending is a 1 in 1,000,000 probably, but we seen that "1" tonight.

I agree as well in that we overachieved. I know our offense should have been one of our best ever and still might be but before this year started I thought if we won 11 or more it would be a great year. Yes we lost to the barn in the worst way and I admitted earlier this was the worst loss I have ever went through as a Bama fan but I am still happy we had a shot at the title when I thought we wouldn't makes me very happy. Now I'm ready to see what new QB steps up after A.J. ends his unbelieveable career after whatever bowl we go to. I still don't see us in the title or a BCS bowl but I just hope we see a good team regardless.

I believe you are wrong the only bowl game we can go to is the Sugar Bowl if we are ranked high & have maybe one lost. Now unless someone wants to prove me wrong?

Almost guaranteed a BCS bowl as long as SC holds on VS Clemson. In that case, we are #4 in the BCS. #4 guarantees us a BCS bid. The loser of the SEC game whether it were SC, MIZ, or AU has 2 losses (3 in the case of SC).

Cade Foster is a big game headcase but, frankly, blaming him on the loss isn't entirely fair. The OL seemingly never made a good play in any short yardage situation today. LSU's DT was right, this OL was soft...gotta be able to run power in short yardage and not try to crease teams with inside zone on 3rd/4th and short.

It also doesn't help when they stack the line, we pass and drop balls. Or OL completely whiff on blocks.

My Thoughts...I don't understand not using Drake more..you can't blame it on fumble problems because he and TJ both have had 4 on the season. He just has a quicker burst than TJ (especially having a gimpy ankle) and had 33 yds on 4 carries...I don't understand bunching up on the LOS on 4th down twice and running the same play. Spread them out and give the back some running room or throw a short pass. If you trust Griffith maybe give him a shot on 4th down to convert the field goal. I'm not a coach by any means but I think on the last play I give my 3 yr starting QB the ball to try and make a play. Spread them out with 4-5 receivers...maybe a DB makes a mistake and you get it in the end zone or maybe a DPI that gives you one untimed play that gives you a FG attempt that is 15 yds closer with no worries about a return if its missed unless its blocked. I'm just stunned the way this game played out...plenty of blame to be spread around between players and staff!
