If that's the case then I was completely wrong with my initial assessment.
There were actually early reports that the officer was in bad shape when he reached the ER, so far as his face was concerned. That was before the information clamp went on...

I recently took a handgun class tutored by an ex-FBI agent. He had fought alongside men who had been hit in shootouts and some even died later. They had kept on fighting, some not even realizing they had been hit. He said it is not like the movies, you don't get knocked off your feet with a typical handgun hit. Michael Brown was a large guy and it probably would have taken several hits to stop him, especially if he was high on something.
You're correct. They'll never believe it, even if there are mountains of evidence...No matter how the final conclusive evidence and reports come out - even if it is determined the police officer was justified in this shooting.....there will remain a significant segment of the populace....who will/can never be satisfied.
This is because they will always feel.........disenfranchised.
No amount of common sense or legalities can resolve that issue in their mind.
Sad....but also frustrating for many.

Yup, as Earle pointed out earlier, handgun rounds are inherently weak against the human body, unless you hit the CNS. There was a shootout (in FL, iirc) where the cop put 22 rounds of .40S&W into a guy before he quit the fight...I recently took a handgun class tutored by an ex-FBI agent. Remarkably, Palmer had taken 22 hits from Soulis' .40-caliber Glock, 17 of which had hit center mass. Despite the fact that the weapon had been loaded with Ranger SXTs considered by many to be one of the best man-stoppers available Palmer lived for more than four minutes after the last shot was fired. His autopsy revealed nothing more than a small amount of alcohol in his bloodstream. Although Soulis could not have known it, Palmer was wanted for murder in a neighboring state.
You wouldn't be the only one...If that's the case then I was completely wrong with my initial assessment.

It takes a big man to admit he was wrong ... are you fat?![]()
In large part because the Ferguson PD did a lousy job of managing the situation, letting other narratives gain momentum instead of getting out in front of things. Here we are, ten days after the shooting and we are JUST learning of Officer Wilson's injury? You add that to the growing mistrust of LE in this country--as evidenced by the number of "LEOs out of control" posts on this website, already existing racial tension in the area, and it's not hard to see how things got out of control.Alrighty then. Big man hits a cop and fractures his skull. Cop puts him down.
Tell me again, why is anybody protesting in Ferguson?

I'm not condoning the additional violence and looting mind you, just suggesting an answer to your question.
Well, I think most of the community there (and elsewhere) realizes things are 'broken' in black culture - but it's easier to blame other people for it than to accept responsibility for your own life and decisions...I think another reason for the protests are, simply put, protests can be fun. You get attention, news cameras, crowds chanting. The exhilaration, excitement of a purpose, and feeling of 'we are gonna change the world!'
Some people protest just for the sake of protesting.

The governor of Missouri has called for a "vigorous prosecution" of the officer. With AG Holder set to arrive who knows what's behind this action?
Wow.
Not that unusual. I've had significant injuries which didn't hurt at first. In fact, I've actually had the thought pass through my head that it was going to hurt like hell later...When I was a teen, a 22 ricocheted and 2 small pieces went through my leg and a third piece lodged in my kneecap. When it went off, it scared me so bad, I took off running and didn't even realize I had been hit for several minutes when I finally noticed blood running down my leg. Even after I noticed it, there was no pain. Adrenaline and fear I guess. I don't know if I would believe it possible if that hadn't of happened to me.
Actually the very first reports had the officer going to the ER with significant facial injuries. Then, the flow of info from the FPD seemed to stop. They would have been better off to, at least, release the extent of his injuries. CNN had one young witness giving an account of the incident which is now clearly fiction. All she seemed to have seen was just the officer leaving the cruiser and shooting an unarmed Brown with his hands in the air. AFAIC, if a big dude had just gotten through pushing in half of my face, hands up in the air is not enough, particularly if he's advancing. He'd better hit his belly on the concrete. I still wonder how Wilson won the battle for the gun and what would have happened to him, had he lost that battle...
That's a tough case. IIRC, she was actually on the ground already shot, begging for her life. I also think she turned out not to be pregnant. However, the homeowner was, after all, 80. They'd invaded his home and he couldn't be sure that she wasn't "playing possum" until she could get a better position to grab him. Tough case...Kind of goes back and gives support to the 80 yr old shooting the woman who just attacked him and then said "don't shoot, I'm pregnant."
