Hey, I started that thread and I'm no lank supporter.

I was admittedly wish-casting, and here we are...

Again, two things can be true. Milroe can go 3-0 against UGA, Missouri, and LSU and go 0-3 against Vandy, Tennessee, and Oklahoma. He can look like the best player in college football one week, and then look like he has never played the QB position ever in his life the next week. I cannot remember a more Jekyll and Hyde player in my time on this Earth. You were absolutely right when you made that thread. Milroe has also proven you wrong over and over again lol. As Ned Flanders would say, “It’s a dilly of a pickle”.

I think one can be appreciated and supported without being a world beater talent. I certainly appreciate his good games this year and his huge performances against LSU and UGA. Right now he seems to be the best we have and will be our QB the rest of the year. Like it or not, he is our QB right now and maybe for the rest of the season.

We've only lost 3 games this year and some of you make it feel like we haven't won any.

It’s not “like he can’t see the defender”. It is literally BECAUSE he cannot see the defender.

That plus he just pre determines that he's going to throw a pass regardless of the coverage or where a defender is at.

He threw TWO Int's last night that were just like the ones vs Texas over a year ago.

He has not become one iota better at being a QB in his entire tenure.

He's going to hell or high water call his own number on the zone read whether it's right or not and he's going to throw where he wants whether it's the right coverage or not.

How many of those games were won specifically because of Milroe? 2 at most. However, you could make the argument Bama owns UGA and LSU regardless of who the QB is. Now ask yourself how many losses were squarely on Milroe’s shoulders. If the answer is anything less than 2.5, you‘re lying to yourself.

Every time we lost under Saban, he always said we weren't as focused during practice. Deboer always says we had a great week of practice. I don't like the inability to read the team. That or the practice intensity is lacking. ...

I don't like it either, its the same script after each loss. Someone pointed out he's not going to throw players under the bus, so that's not a bad thing. Optimistic view is he's not wanting to talk after these poor results and just goes into coach speak to just get through the press, and then deals with it. By not revealing how or what he's dealing with, we can only judge decisions and results on field, and doesn't add up. Don't like hearing dumb excuses like lights, so maybe he's overprotecting players or coaches without thinking about it, but also doesn't seem to have balanced answers either for each position.

Yep. I can’t figure it out. Is he honestly “the best we have” or has Ty never been given a fair shake because of NIL and locker room issues? I don’t know what the answer is. It’s likely a bit of both.

How can this even be a conclusion to come to when he's barely had any playing time where he's been allowed to throw the ball.

He's probably thrown an equal amount of Short, Mid Range, and Deep passes in an extremely small sample and never with any group but 2nd and 3rd string.

Other than the pretty spiral part you are describing Milroe and not Ty.

Milroe is one of the most reckless QB's I have ever seen.

He's fumbled the ball a LOT and will thrown INT's right to the other team like he can't even see the defender.

Tbh No One has seen enough of Ty to make a definitive judgement. The kid has not been given one single fair shot at playing with the 1st string.

He threw an absolute duck against WKU in the opener that was picked off but overturned by a penalty.

The throw last week to Cuevas after evading the sack was also an absolute duck that should have been picked and almost certainly would have against an SEC defense.

I remember at least a couple more throws in a couple of spring games that were just atrocious and clearly trying to force something. Can’t recall if they were actually picked or not.

He makes check downs sometimes and hits nice quick throws. So does Milroe. Neither guy does it all that consistently. Milroe has evaded pressure and made nice throws at times over the last couple of years, just not consistently. Ty seems to have some of the same issues feeling pressure in the pocket.

A couple of credible posters on this board have talked about Simpson having these issues consistently in practice. These same posters have said that both Simpson and Milroe were basically encouraged to portal out after the spring of 2023. We brought in Buchner after last spring.

I’m not saying Milroe is an elite QB. I’m saying that the evidence suggests that Ty is not any better. Not trying to rag on Ty. I think we are basing things on Milroe looking bad and assuming the next guy up is better because of recruiting hype. DeBoer’s choices this season were to (a) go with the well-liked veteran team leader; (b) play the backup who may not be appreciably better and has a similar overall skill set, or (c) play a really young guy who might be a better fit for the system but the inexperience will likely rear its head in ugly ways. I think DeBoer made the right choice and probably the best one he could. Milroe is very much a square peg to the round hole in DeBoer’s offense, but I’d argue you have a lot of the same issues with Ty.

It usually falls on the QB either way because the ineffectiveness of the offense has usually led to our defense tiring by the 2nd half. We don't have anything better to replace him with according to two administrations. Nothing wrong still having an "appreciation" thread for his contributions.

Sorry, but this is just not true. That 2007 team was a program coming off of probation and at least 8yrs of mediocre football. No one expected it to win anything. This team won the SECC and played for a NC last year. Even considering transfers, this team is vastly better than 2007. 2007 had excuses. This one does not.

I would disagree just because the 2007 ULM loss had “quit” written all over it. Even with the issues that the 2007 team had, our talent level was leaps and bounds above a 6-6 ULM team, and that game was at home.

I personally didn’t see any “quit” last night. Lots of dysfunction but I disagree with the notion that “the team just didn’t show up”. 2007 ULM, or 2006 Mississippi State, or 2000 Southern Miss are what it looks like when the team doesn’t show up. OU has had a tough season but is still loaded with raw talent, like probably top 15-20 talent. The game was on the road, and everything clicked for them.

Not defending last night, just arguing for perspective.
