Questions about Milroe.

I've been a staunch supporter of Milroe, but even I am about done with the QB situation. If it isn't him failing to read a defense and make the right throws, then it's him staying in the pocket too long where he clearly could run for 10+ yards, or it's throwing to the open receiver but throwing it 10 yards above his head.. It's really become hard to watch. I love the guy just like everyone else but he's been given AMPLE opportunity to become the best version of himself and it just isn't panning out. I don't think for a second that they will make a change at QB but we're fitting a super athletic square into a round hole.

After watching Milroe throw FORTY FIVE times in one game and almost half of those go to a single wideout, I think I've just seen enough.

Sorry, but this is not “usual SEC QB play.” It’s bad. And more than bad, it’s not smart QB play. How many SEC QBs are throwing 80% of their passes in a game to one reciever?
If Law and Odom are healthy and available and you DON"T find ways to get them INVOLVED against that Vile defense it's a problem with offensive design, execution or preference. I'm in the camp of the latter 2 are the REAL ISSUES!

You were so wrong in the first part of that game against Georgia though. But, other than that, you've been pretty right lol.
The 1st 20 mins of that game in hindsight has to be one of the most mystifying things I've seen.

It looked as if the light had come on finally in the short to intermediate game.

But maybe it was just this short isolated period where a player got hot and played way over his head instead of actual development.

But when the chips are down he tends to continue to revert to his worst habits.

I honestly thought that we would be where we are right now after the UGA game instead of 3 games later.

But here we are 7 games into the season with a concerning problem at the QB position.

Honestly if that UGA game had been in Athens with a raucous crowd of UGA fans barking and yelling we might have seen the exact same implosion as Knoxville.

It's beyond time for another player to get an opportunity.

Listen, I think Ty should get a shot and I've said this many times, but you can't bench a captain and a guy who just won you a SEC championship and took you to the playoffs, now if the wheels come off next week then it's time to but you can't right now
When you are getting paid to play what you did last year doesn't count. And as far as him being a captain, he needs to act like one and play like one. His time is up.

Freddie Kitchens. To be serious though, we hadn't had a first round NFL type QB until Tua, so I think that was the big change. After Tua we were spoiled at QB for a while.
Coker might be the toughest Bama QB I've seen.

He rightly or wrongly even looked to initiate contact with defenders on QB scrambles and more times than not it was the defender who regretted it.

At some point, we just have to accept the reality that Bama owns UGA. The reasons don’t really matter.

Man, I would love to see this team with Coker at the helm. Nowhere near as flashy as the 2018 and beyond teams, but we would run over everyone.

If we had AJ or Sims or Coker we are probably 7-0 right now.

I also honestly think that Ty if given a chance could be as good as any of those three.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure with literally any other Saban QB, we'd have no more than one loss right now. Milroe did us no favors with that early Pick 6 against Vandy, but ultimately I think the defense lost that game.

You can look at numerous plays in every game and find this same thing. Wide open guys he just never sees. Plays that don’t get made.
What thought was more telling yesterday, beyond the obvious wide open receivers, was the opportunities with open field in front of him to take off and pick up 10+ yards. And it wasn’t like he hesitated, it was like he was making a conscious decision NOT to run.

Unless this phantom injury you guys are talking about is a couple of detached retinas I don’t want to hear it. This isn’t the Oline. This isn’t the play calling. This is the QB. And if you’re wondering where this pass ended up, it landed in the lap of the guy sitting in row 5.
That’s the frustrating part. So many times on 3rd down a player is open for an automatic 1st down but we throw the 50/50 ball downfield.
He is not and never has been a good decision maker because he doesn't see the field. There are a number of posters that have been saying this since his first start but we are called eeyores. He obviously played above his talent in a few games this year and now we are back to normal. Missing wide open WRs is one thing but, how in the world do you not see 20 yards of green grass in front of you. This happened 2 plays in a row in the 4th quarter and he threw bad passes both times.

We are 0-2 in the state of TN this year, what wheels are left on at this point?

Randy Sanders told me that Coker was the best throwing QB he had ever coached. TIFWIW

*If* Milroe is playing with some injury, I wish CKD would at least address it today.

Cause this is not the same player from 3-4 weeks ago, and I don’t think it’s just because of the defenses he’s played.

It reminded me of a problem Bryce had early on as a starter, he would never run even when lanes were open because he trusted his arm so much and for good reason.

The difference is, I think Milroe is trying a bit too much to prove he is a passer when that’s not his strongsuit.

as I said on the other thread. Hurts did all that year 1, and Tua was still getting lots of time and likely should have been starting long before the championship. and for the record, Hurts was an order of magnitude better than where JM is. It's not even remotely close.

Just wanted to expand on your observation which is spot on.

The tenor of TideFans has always been a bit different than most any other CFB forum. We work intentionally to make it that way.

Some of the newer folks are coming from forums that are/were very different. They're welcome here as long as they come in, read the room, and adjust their posting style to what we want here. If they choose to kick in the door and start spraying the room with attitude like is accepted on most sites, they're not wanted here and will be escorted out sooner or later.

TF.com is not the primary income stream for BamaNation - and he has principles and standards he wishes to uphold. If that means TF.com isn't the biggest, that's fine - we're not going to compromise the standards that set TF.com above the other forums out there.
I never was implying to change the board to fit them but we shouldn't be hostile to new members either just because we have been here longer. Was my point
