RB Mark Ingram Update

Even tho he was promised he would start out at RB, most people believe Chris Jordan will eventually move to LBer, ala Jimmy Johns. Right now...Alabama could have Goode/Grant/Upchruch/Coffee/Preyear/Griffiths/perhaps Ingram at RB for the next couple of yrs. So while Jordan at RB is intriguing, chances are his bet to play quicker will be a LBer. But since Saban is a man of his word, he will give Jordan every opportunity to win a spot in the RB rotation. But, IMO, within two yrs....Chris Jordan will be a LBer for Alabama.

The one and the same.

Obviously, we want Ingram at Alabama. If Saban didn't think he could get Ingram, he would not have made a play for the young man. I believe Alabama is abit of a wild card for Ingram. If we don't land him, it would be a tough break, but not a make or break for this class. But I am hoping we get Ingram.

You forgot one, "Matchett The Hatchet":biga2:

Mark Ingram will announced his choice of school at 9:00 am on NSD.

I kinda got a feeling that he won't sign with us. Don't get me wrong because I hope I am wrong. Listening to his father talk about going away from home and being away from his mother who was strict on him, led to his downfall. Seems like Mark Sr. will not allow his son to get a whole lot of rope. Again I hope I'm wrong because Mark Jr. looks impressive.

I read on a premium site that MI is thinking about announcing on Tuesday, instead of Wednesday. Coach Burns and Cignetti visited him this week, and he said that some people may be suprised by his decision. He also said he wanted to go somewhere where he had a chance to play for a NC.

I saw that earlier. I think we get him!:BigA:

One thing is certain; you will have injuries at the running back position. I don't know how many times in the past few years that we've been down to 3rd or 4th team running back. I say we need 7 or 8 , redshirt if we don't have too many injuries.
Besides, strong competition makes everyone better. That may have been part of the problem in the past.

i expect jordan to be one of our best rbs. size, speed, and toughness. they are not everyday available commodities on a team. i believe coffee will be the only tailback from last years team competing. i would expect grant to be in on special plays, and may run back some kicks.

IMO, we are in terrific shape with Ingram. To even be competing with the in-state school at this point says a lot about our program right now... and CNS.

I don't know if this means anything...But the order of "college choices" on Rivals.com (for Ingram) are as follows...

#1 Iowa
#2 MSU
#3 Alabama

Does that mean they think he might go to Iowa?

For the record, on Quinn & Harris ... Alabama is #1. I know we are probably not #1 for Quinn....

Iowa is certainly a viable option for Mark. However, it depends on how important playing for a NC is to him. If it's high on his priority list, then the lean is heavier toward Bama. But if immediate playing time, being comfortable with players and coaches, and staying close to home are higher on the priority list, then Iowa is favored over Bama.

Of course, this assumes MSU is out of the picture which I heard they might be but I won't believe it until Mark's annoucement.

Mark Ingram has said that he now plans to change his announcement to tomorrow Tuesday, Feb 5th at 3:30 (ET). He will announce his commitment one day before NSD.

Thursday 31st Alabama coaches CBB and CCC visited Ingram and went over the offensive philosophies of the new OC and how Ingram would fit into the Alabama offense. CNS and Ingram have stayed in close contact and he says he has a good relationship with CNS. He said CNS wants him to be a part of this great Alabama 2008 signing class. Ingram recently made an interesting statement. He said "I think people will be surprised." Hopefully for Tide fans that will be a a good surprise.

How can we fit ALL these guys in? Aren't there limits on the # of recruits we can accept/put on the roster?
