Roster Management for 24-25

This portal mess is only going to get worse. I was listening to Wimp speak on Mac and Cube yesterday, and he mentioned the NCAA is set to vote next week on unlimited transfers, and the ability to play immediately after transferring. This would theoretically mean that a player could play for one team in the Final Four, their team loses, and they transfer to the winning team, and play for the natty. If that passes, it's gonna get really ridiculous very quickly.

I think they still have to be students at that first school, so I doubt that. But with the nzaa, who knows?🤔

Lots of smoke about Kansas tampering with Rylan. Apparently a lot of “in his ear” all season long. And they made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.

similar concern about Wrightsell. Blue bloods chasing elite 3pt shooters.

hoped we would fix these issues with hoops. Looks like we are heading the other way now. SMH

I wish we could also, but how can you monitor modern communication such as, social media, text messaging, anonymous contact, etc..... Seems like it would be a hard, expensive and thankless job.

Found this quote from 247:

Liam McNeeley has one of the best combinations of skill and basketball acumen in the national class. He came up the ranks known as a shooter – and for good reason as he has clean mechanics, a compact release, and shot over 40% from behind the three-point line in both the NIBC and EYBL seasons – but he’s far more versatile than just a specialist. He’s particularly adept at coming off screens, making instinctual reads, and then attacking defenders while they are on the move. That can mean movement threes, but it can also mean curls, dribble penetration, and an ability to get downhill at times. McNeeley has a high natural feel for the game and is a good passer who can also facilitate for others around him. In fact, Montverde frequently made him the featured player of their half-court offense during his junior season and relied on his ability to make decisions with the ball in his hands, not necessarily as a primary ball-handler, but as the first domino in many of their actions. Physically, he’s not especially long or athletic, but he has legit size at over 6-foot-7 with his shoes on, a sturdy base, and increasingly strong and cut upper body. He’s made strides being able to stay in front of more athletic wings on the defensive end, in large part because he’s aware enough to be in the right spots and take the right angles. Overall, McNeeley may not have the ideal physical measurables of a prototypical five-star prospect, but he is one of the most consistently productive and reliable basketball players in the class.

Ironically, he's from Richardson, TX, just like Rylan Griffen. He could be the natural replacement is Griffen portals out.

I’m thinking these are spaced out for a reason. I guessing Wague is next. Then Wrightsell. Then we do out what’s happening with Sears and Nelson.

hopeful that we keep Sam, Mo and Stevenson.

Then we see who comes in.

I'm not convinced Sears is gone until it happens.

Would he really be better off in Europe or the G League?

I haven't heard anything about Cosby leaving. Do you mean the Draft or Transfer?

I think Nelson stays too but maybe I'm being overly optimistic.

Agreed on Sears. It seems NIL$ will be greater than pro ball for him since I'm sure the collective will really beef up their offer to Mark. He can be A-A and POY candidate next year and become an even bigger legend in Bama b'ball.

I thought Wrightsell is staying with the team. I haven't heard anything on him at all. I've seen few tidbits stating he's coming back. That's part of why Griffin is leaving.

Wague and Pringle seem like obvious choice to leave. Sears- His mama wants him to come back another year. He has better chance to make more money at Alabama than in NBA right now. Nelson IMO if he can secure a draft spot, I think he's gone.

Tampering is no longer a major crime so it was smart of them to do so. I'm sure everybody is now tampering and they should be since there is very little to no punishment.

I have a sense it will be a large turnover season again. Predicting 8 new guys that were not on the roster last season will be on team come November that get decent minutes.
