Scott Cochran is Leaving for Georgia

With all of the injuries, I have been quietly questioning CSC and his methods for the last couple of years. I must admit, I am not very upset about this. In fact.. not at all upset.

For all the Georgia fans monitoring this forum.
Scott Cochran + Georgia football = zero future national championships.
Georgia will remain behind Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and possibly Oklahoma. Continue to cherish that national championship from "40" years ago!!

Come on seriously? Saban is the goat and covers all aspects of the game. Other people have coached with him for years and no one has emulated what he has done or accomplished what he has. He is simply put a machine and is like a pit bull dog with a tire. He is relentless and relentless in his pursuit of winning and as near to perfection as he can get. Cochran’s true value has always been his ability to bond with the players motivate them and get effort from them as a sc coach not on the field where he is not proven. The sc coach is so important because of the time they get to spend with the players and their extensive contact. While looks appear that he would be an excellent motivator and could quite possibly be a good recruiter who knows but what make anyone think this means or translated to on the field or living room success. Appealing to kids already in the program versus persuading their parents is completely different and an adult views things different especially regarding their child and their future. Saban is pretty much all business and proven with all of the changeover he is the reason the program is successful and hires great managers consistently over time. Cochran may also have to explain about all of the injuries too while he was in charge of sc fair or not. If Saban did not fight to keep him on the field I trust that enough said. Saban creates the plan and hires people to implement it period. Read between the lines don’t panic. RTR

I’m not one to read between the lines but...

”"He wanted to get on to the field coaching and would like one day, I think, to be a head coach," Saban told ESPN. "We didn't really have anything here to offer him along those lines, and Georgia did. I understand him wanting to take on that path.”
I agree , I posted in this thread that there is more to this. You can take his statement at face value or understand that Nick rarely makes any comment without reason!

All of the injury bugs have been happening since around 2012 or so if I remember correctly.

A few thoughts. Reading that Saban didn’t put up much of a fight, yet CSC isn’t allowed to say bye to the team?

I feel like if Saban let him go and didn’t fight much why not let him say bye?

Why?

Coach Saban has known all along that Cochran was going to join Smart at UGA once he got his ten years in with the State. Given the history with how Smart poached players before he left, then why present an opportunity for Cochran? Not saying that he would, but letting hm say goodbye when he was always leaving anyways is kind of pointless.

I am guessing that with Cochran seeing his time was coming up, he may have only been half-hearted with his job performance this past year anyways... JMHO!

I am not concerned about the Strength and Conditioning part.. maybe the players won't get injured as much with someone else. My concern is the relationship aspect, the timing of it all, and what will Cochran share with Kirby about the players and what he knows about the Bama players, and everything else inside the program that Kirby may not know about. I just don't trust Kirby. And, we have to play UGA this year at least once, maybe twice if Bama wins the West.

Its well known that Cochran and Smart are close friends. There comes a point when you have to wonder where allegiances lie. Given how big a scumbag Smart turned out to be, it wouldn't be surprising if he was pumping Cochran for any info that he could. Not saying that Cochran would, but where there is opportunity, sometimes people will surprise you...

Sounds like Scott wanted to stay at Alabama but Saban was not ready to move him to an on field coaching position. If so, I think that we just have to wish him well in his new position and look for a replacement - he went about it right.

Even if he stays at Alabama, you would be looking for a new S&C coach if he gets moved to a coaching position.

That does not translate into wishing GA well - just Scott. He did a great job at Alabama and has earned my respect. GA can suck an egg.
