Hoping a new thread brings good luck. LSU vs Bama this morning at 10 am local- LSU has had a disappointing season as well, but their strength is their offense so The Beav needs to have one of her very best games. Looking forward to it!

Lsu ties it up at 2-2 in the bottom of the 6th as Beaver walks a run home and hits another.You almost have to be perfect as a pitcher with as little run support as your going to get.
These teams under Murphy have been in a slow downward spiral for several years. They can't hit for any level of consistency and have tried to win with small ball and pitching, but that just isn't working anymore. I think it is time for a coaching change. With several of the best players leaving and not having Fouts to help carry them, this year has been a disappointment to say the least. Just look at the ace that Kilfoyle has turned into and is helping carry Okie State this year...she should have been the ace for this team after Fouts, but she and others have left in recent years...
Unfortunately, I agree that it is time for a change. Had the chance to sit next to Coach Murphy at a Bama baseball game years ago. He was personable And great to talk to. Hate to see him go but it is time.

Murphy had a chance to go out and find a true hitting coach but, if I recall correctly, chose to hire the volunteer hitting coach he had been using. My thoughts were why was he hiring a guy to be the hitting coach who obviously knew nothing about hitting. The results of that hire are pretty glaring this year. Once again, we get an excellent effort from our two pitchers today. They essentially gave up 2 runs for several innings and we can't scratch out one measly run to help them. If you keep giving the other teams chances, eventually they will get it done.Are we the only team in the conference without one or are you saying the one we have... ain't one?
I'm torn on whether Murphy should go or not. But one more chance would mean he pulls a Saban and adjusts to the modern softball game - and hires a real hitting coach.
It will be a miracle if we get a regional. Maybe we'll get one because we have a nice park. If we host, we'll probably be a 3 seed.
I like Coach Murphy and hoped he could turn this slide around, but he just can't seem to see how the game has changed. Our pitching this year has been more than adequate. Yeah, we've had a few ugly games, but a large portion of our games could have been won with just a little bit of production at the plate. In addition to all of the other negative stats we lead the SEC in this year, I'll bet we also lead in 1-2-3 innings on offense.
I have been a season ticket holder for 14 years. It is obvious to anyone who has watched them the last 4 or 5 years that the program is struggling. Montana Fouts covered up some of our problems because she was so good. The hitting issue is not a new development, it's been that way for years, and seems to be getting worse. When the girls hit better as freshman than in their sophomore, junior and senior years, it shows that they aren't well coached. I suspect we'll see a mass exodus when the portal opens. It seems as if Murphy is more interested in promoting the game than his own teams record. Either he makes changes or he is goingto lose the fan base.
Murphy fell in love with the Arizona style hitting of the 2000’s in which you played small ball and had dominant pitching. That worked for awhile because everyone was pretty much getting used to softball from 2000-2017 and there really wasn’t a better blueprint on photo win besides some of those pac 12 styles. It really helped Murphy because it allowed him to coach hitting, Ally to coach fielding, and Steph coach pitching without very much issues.Are we the only team in the conference without one or are you saying the one we have... ain't one?
However everything changed after Patty Gasso and Clint Myers unleashed the bopper patrol. Now if you don’t have 5 great hitters then you aren’t winning anything no matter how well your pitching is. Murphy has fought the obvious changes needed because ultimately he would have to let Ally go to do it.
