The teaser titles have been running rampant today. I will simply delete your thread if you can't find the words to tell what your topic is about.
 
Teaser this, teaser that.. is it really that big of a deal!? So you click on a post curious as to what the actual topic is.. turns out it doesn't interest you all that much. click the "back" button on your browser. Time wasted: 1.4 seconds. big whoop.
 
Multiply that by about a dozen threads like it per day and maybe 500 views per thread to see the curiosity and it adds up to a pain in the tail. You're right, the individual wasted about 5 seconds though.

I'd like to add a reminder to our broadband members - not everyone has broadband. A couple of times last year, I found myself on the road and on dialup. I can tell you from experience, it's irritating as hell to spend several minutes opening a thread, only to find that the poster has tricked you into wasting time on something of no interest to you. Many teaser threads disappeared during those intervals. I guess our risk/reward ratio must have gotten out of whack again, with the present epidemic. I'm with Rich; they're going to start disappearing without a trace...
 
"twelve" is obviously one of our broadband members...

Edit, for those who still don't "get it." TF is a sponsor-supported site. That's why you don't pay anything. As a result, sponsor ads have to load, or they go away and we have to go to a subscription basis. On broadband, those ads come up in seconds. ON DIALUP, they take several minutes. "twelve," if you have anything further to add, please direct it to me personally, rather than arguing on the forum...

I think that instead of simply deleting teaser threads from now on, BamaNation (or whoever runs the technical side of things) should place a bandwidth restriction on the I.P. addresses of those who post such threads. Make it a month long and turn it down to about 5 kb per second for the individual. Maybe they'll get the point when they see what dial-up users go through in trying ot read their favorite fan site.

I have broadband, but I did have dial-up once and I can sympathize with those who still do.
 
Not trying to argue with or stir back up with what Twelve said, but I used to feel the way he does and at times think maybe we are too strict on the teaser titles. Then I go to another board (be it a football or business message board) and i get so irritated at the teaser threads and I do have broadband. I have learbed to appreciate the informative titles and now it doesnt matter what board i post on, I NEVER do a teaser.

Although sometimes i think you guys nit pick, man I have sure gotten used to your nitpicking and love it now!!

Yep ... try to browse the board on Tidesports (to use an example), and about half the threads you don't know if you are interested or not. So you click ... and get some junior high humor or off-topic bilge that makes you feel dumber than you were before.

Broadband or no broadband ... no thanks on the teaser titles.
 
I think we (including the mods) have bigger things to worry about than teaser titles...like supporting the Tide this weekend!!!

to me ,it is....you can tell if you've got a bummer topic. There may be two or three replys but a ton of hits. That has, and is a rule for a long time on this board."No teaser titles".There's some on this board (including mine) that has a slower cpu. Having said that, you may better understand what a worthless, missleading title can do... I hope the Mods delete every single time waster.
