The Republican Vote Suppression Machine Is Out of Control

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

Why do you feel this way?

My adopted Chinese daughter is an American citizen, yet she was born in another country.

My dental assistant was born in Jackson, TN, went to school in Jackson and attended DA school in Jackson. She is 21 now. Her father has gone back to Mexico. I’m not sure of the legal status of her mother, but if we assume the mother is illegal, why would you want the mother’s illegal status to make my DA illegal?

Just trying to understand your logic.
Here is an example:
A woman who is not a citizen travels to the US simply to give birth and thereby the child is automatically a citizen and therefore entitled to certain financial benifits. AKA birth tourism.

I understand, but disagree. I’m not certain that birth tourism is not exactly what happened with my assistant. Until last summer, she had never been outside the US. She was born and raised here. IMO, it would be wrong for someone to tell her she is not a citizen because her parents weren’t citizens. Remember, my adopted daughter has Chinese biological parents.

I don’t really have anything more to offer on this, so the last word is yours if you choose.

I think if there were a way to measure the overall good to the community anchor babies turn out to be verses whatever negatives they bring…

They are a blessing in the long run.

they’ve been doing underhanded crap like this for decades. funny thing is, republicans have had almost uncontested control of state government in georgia since 2002. for some reason they weren’t able to fix all of these “problems”
We can't criticize that because this board is predominantly "democrats". That makes us unbiased independents. Go team!

Not only are Arizona’s restrictions burdensome, they are unnecessary. States have many existing safeguards in place to ensure that noncitizens are not on the voter rolls and cannot cast ballots. For example, states can cross-reference state DMV records, jury duty records, and Social Security records to ensure that noncitizens do not register to vote.
