Jerrell Harris eligibility???

I guess you can be considered a "booster" if you are supporting another university by sabotaging another. Is there some kind of bylaw, I don't know about? If so the only punishment I can think of is complete disassociation of that booster by the university.

I don't know how you could do this if the guilty party isn't affliated with the NCAA. They would have to be link with the University directly.

I don't know if there is a conspiracy but it does seem perculiar. A business partner of a big Auburn booster somehow becomes friends with three Alabama players and claims he did not know that they were football players. The Ingram and Jones issue are related but appears that the Harris incident is a separate issue. What is the likelyhood that this man would have a chance meeting with three Alabama football players on two separate incidents that bring in question their eligibility?
Take into account, that there has been several auburn supporters that have hired private investigators and have admitted to seeking out a way to bring Alabama down and the conspiracy has merit. Now, if the business partner booster somehow intentionally set Curtis Anderson up to contact these players and to initiate questions into their eligibilty then Should the NCAA not look into the Auburn booster's involvement? If he is indeed involved, should there not be somekind of punishment?

Earle had alluded to something earlier but wasn't clear. It had something to do with info that might harm the investigation if leaked out. SInce the info has came out about the link to the auburn booster could what be harmed is a look into possible actions against auburn?

Don't think the SEC and NCAA don't know what is going on here. Auburn can't be busted for boosters trying to sabotage a rival, but they can be busted when Chizik struggles this year and their boosters go into panic mode and start paying recruits. They've drawn the eye of these guys by trying to bring Alabama down and it will only end in them on major NCAA sanctions. In fact, I'd put money that Auburn is more likely to see major violations in the next 5 years than Kiffin at Tennessee. Remember, Chizik was a Dye hire and it was the Dye staff best known for "keepin' it down home cuz."

This is ridiculous. What is wrong with our players? Ok, I can buy Mark and Julio story that Julio knew the guy before and they both didn't know they were doing something wrong.

But Jerrell taking the laptop... There cannot be an excuse. I mean, what was he thinking? The only thing I can think of is that he thought he could get away with this. Oops, not the case. He has to be punished. This should not be tolerated.

God, when is this going to come to an end? They are going to bring us a death penalty.

Are you guys really this surprised? It's Aubarn, Ala fans we're talking about here. If they lose a game, they could care less. If we lose a game, they party all week. Their world evolves around us and they'll do ANYTHING to bring us down... even if it's sacrificing their very own backwoods program.

I'm not surprised one bit and I wish them the worst of luck this year and in Harris' case.

I don't understand you guys make it sound like Auburn made him take a laptop. It seems that regardless of whether it was set up or whatever the rumor is, JH should not have accepted a laptop without pay. He is ultimately responsible for his actions. Stop blaming everything on Auburn it makes us sound just as pathetic as them.

OK. Auburn booster has nothing in this. He is all innocent and Just Alabama football players are guilty. Suspend them all.

Well, at first I thought the whole Auburn conspiracy theory on this was silly. Now I'm starting to wonder... :conf2:
Did you sleep through Hoover , Mobile and Gadsden ?

FWIW , and I will not post it , it took the barners about 3 hours to start a new one .

Well heck, I have a kid that comes into my restaurant often and he is being recruited by auburn. Should I offer him free sandwiches?
Why not :)

Doesn't Alabama already have a sports tampering law that could be applied here?
Unless there is something new , it's related to agents and/or their representatives/runners/stringers .

We just can't stay out of trouble. It doesn't matter if this was a setup by some Auburn boosters. Jerrell Harris is either too stupid to be in school or knew that he was breaking the rules by accepting the laptop. Either way he hurt his teammates, the University, and any good things that could have come as a result of playing at the University of Alabama.

I find it hard to defend him.

Logically, I can see no way that he did not know exactly what he was doing when he accepted this gift.

I am worried, and I think I have a very good reason to be worried.

Wow. This stinks more and more of an Aubie setup attempt to sabotage Alabama. What will the NCAA do when they see a consistent pattern involving this guy. He has nothing to do with Bama, friends say he's an Auburn fan, he is a business partner of a big Auburn donor. Will the light turn on in Indianapolis?

When its a 20 watt bulb I would have to say no. :BigA:

The ruling should have came along with the other two. The Nzaa is a lost organization with no direction.

J.Will,
I am not going to quote you because your post violates the board rules and should be deleted.
First, you and I are ignorant of the facts so for you to call question Harris' intelligence is not an intelligent decision on your part.
I also haven't seen where anyone has given Harris a pass on this.
At this point, have you seen anything that confirmed that he received a laptop. I have only seen rumors but haven't seen it reported or confirmed froma a reputable source.

I agree that we need to quit blaming Aubarn. If JH had been smart enough to "JUST SAY NO!" This would not even be a thread right now. JH needs to be suspended for a while and be made to earn his way back onto the team. Maybe that will teach others a lesson.

The theory actually makes sense. Since he technically IS NOT an Aubarn booster, the actual Aubarn boosters using him as a middle man to target our players so Aubarn can't get nailed in case the plan backfires (as I'm assuming Aubarn can't be penalized for this seeing how the guy himself is not actually an Aubarn booster).

You beat me to it MamaC. I wish everyone would quit speculating or stop posting until facts come in. Until then, quit putting fuel on the flames. This gives barners enjoyment.

Two things.

(1) If JH took a laptop from this guy, he should be suspended. There is no doubt in my mind that he knew it was wrong, but did it anyway. The MI/JJ situation sounded a bit more innocent, but, ultimately they should have known better as well. It's time that our players start taking responsibility for their actions. Color me disappointed.

(2) I find it very interesting that Curtis Anderson has all of a sudden become silent and has obtained council. I'm from Athens, but I don't know the guy. If he is taking part in some sort of conspiracy, what does that say about the rivalry? I don't even look forward to the Iron Bowl this year (even though the result will probably be similar to last year) because of all the "hate" that gets thrown around. It is pathetic that full grown men will buy players and hire private investigators with their own money regardless of the school. And the thought that they might buy stuff for the other team's players to turn that school into the NCAA is downright creepy. These two programs appear headed down the SWC route.

I suppose Anderson had no idea J. Harris was football player either. Something is just not right about this. I was willing to give the benefit of doubt to the Anderson-JJ-MI relationship even after some strange quotes from Andersons interview. But this is just too weird for words.

Thanks for quoting me so accurately. My point was just that if this entire situation happened with the laptop even if Auburn is involved in trying to set it up JH saying no stops the entire plan. My whole point was that you have to be responsible for your actions, and their is no way he would not have known that it would be wrong to accept a gift like that. I'm sure Auburn has something to do with it but that had nothing to do with my post.

It seems like this whole deal may border on racketeering if they affect the outcome of a game.
